Digital Locker is one of the key initiatives under the Digital India Programme. A beta version (http://digitallocker.gov.in) of the same has been released on 10th Feb. 2015, by Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), Govt. of India.

Digital Locker is aimed at minimizing the usage of physical documents and enable sharing of e-documents across agencies. The sharing of the e-documents will be done through registered repositories thereby ensuring the authenticity of the documents online. Residents can also upload their own electronic documents and digitally sign them using the e-sign facility. These digitally signed documents can be shared with Government organizations or other entities.

Key features of the Digital Locker System are:

• 10 MB of free space in digital locker to residents to access their documents through Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) and also securely store e-documents.
• e-sign online service to digitally sign documents

Residents are invited to use the Beta version of the Digital Locker System and provide suggestions and feedback on the same. Suggestions are also invited on the use cases for services which can be additionally provided by the Digital Locker System.

We know that its a must to get the birth certificate for all those born in this country. When this being the case. We can digitalize this and create a record for the child from its birth. Going further when the same child completes his/her schooling, college etc, the same can be recorded by the government authorities. This record will also help in recruitment for government jobs.

for digital india, a person need not to go to the service provider personally. but in practical it is opposite. for example if we fill up the form for new passport, we still have to go the passport office. Why? it can be done completly without visit there. also if there is some problem, the passport website shows the problem with remarks meet the passport officer.thats wrong. it should show what is the problem. so that if a person comes to rectify, he will come with supporting documents

We want make the country as Digital India, but hows that possible if State gov is not be supported. Biggest state in this country is know U.P. but their is no rules and regulations for education and that is the big reason country not developed without U.P. firstly gov need to change the education system of U.P. and the reservation base selection of teachers too bad for the system. Now time to give equity to everyone prove their-self. Thanks
