Every year 27th September is celebrated as World Tourism Day. This year the theme of World Tourism Day is Tourism and Rural Development. Tourism helps rural communities hold onto their unique natural and cultural heritage, supporting conservation projects, including those safeguarding endangered species, lost traditions or flavours. Tourism has proven to be a lifeline for many rural communities. The sector is not just a leading source of employment, particularly for women and youth but it also provides opportunities for territorial cohesion and socio-economic inclusion for even the most remote regions.
Our villages and the people who live there are a true custodians and manifestation of our culture.
As we work towards more sustainable development of our country, developing related hard and soft infrastructure and promoting tourism in rural India is much required.

Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with MyGov invites you to share your views ideas on Rural India- How it can leverage tourism.

During the vacation, there could be camps for urban kids, which includes daily activities and some rural games like kabbadi, khokho, kancha, gili-danda and so on. But these camps should be made cost effective and well governed from safety and hygiene point of view. There could also be platform to exchange ideas between rural kids and urban kids, so that they learn from each other.

Nobody want to visit simply rural area even though they belongs to the same place. but I think first we need to develop the historical places in the rural area and develop nearby area. we can encourage the people living in the same are to open restaurants and made the kutia like shown in figure of poster of rural india tourism. Along with all these things we need advertise all these things regularly on different platforms.

On the contrary, there should be electric vehicle, ghoda gadis or bullock carts within specified zone, so that the purity of that zone can be maintained. Agriculture, milking, planting kind of activities should be arranged for the people who are interested. Local folk songs and dance should be developed for an entertainment of the guests. If there is small processing unit around the zone, such as dairy, food processing, sugar factory should be made open for science loving people.

Rural tourism can boost the rural economy further and it will help many urban kids to understand our basic Indian culture. Govt. should earmark some area, which has scenic places and having good natural resources and develop the same from tourism perspective. The villagers should be trained how they should be accommodative to the guests and how should they be treated. within that area, the plastic should be completely banned and use banana leaf to have food and donas to have liquids.

Water bodies like lakes and rivers, if maintained properly, can be a great tourist spot and also help preserve local flora and fauna. We have numerous lakes in or near villages which are drying up and have great potential.

Rural area is the most beautiful place to live in..Any form of tourism that showcases the life, art, culture and heritage at the rural location. It is also known as community-based tourism; it is small scale tourism in rural areas, where the local people actively involved in the process. These days rural tourism is making a valuable contribution in rural economics. Its contribution can be expressed in terms of jobs creation, nature conservation and many other factors.
