Every year 27th September is celebrated as World Tourism Day. This year the theme of World Tourism Day is Tourism and Rural Development. Tourism helps rural communities hold onto their unique natural and cultural heritage, supporting conservation projects, including those safeguarding endangered species, lost traditions or flavours. Tourism has proven to be a lifeline for many rural communities. The sector is not just a leading source of employment, particularly for women and youth but it also provides opportunities for territorial cohesion and socio-economic inclusion for even the most remote regions.
Our villages and the people who live there are a true custodians and manifestation of our culture.
As we work towards more sustainable development of our country, developing related hard and soft infrastructure and promoting tourism in rural India is much required.

Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with MyGov invites you to share your views ideas on Rural India- How it can leverage tourism.

We need to launch a special website to promote rural tourism. Upload details of festivals, markets, exhibitions, natural beauty, spiritual sites and important events held in all the villages in India. This website should run in all recognized languages. It should also announce details of seeking assistance from the tourism, police, medical and security departments. This can be very helpful for travel plans. This will help you to go to more places at low cost

It will give travelers a pleasant experience when using our traditional measurement methods on festival and country trips. Realizing our heritage. We must not forget heritage because that is the history of our nation. Products made according to traditional measurement methods should be sold at rural markets and festivals. Sales should also take place according to our traditional method. It will promote rural tourism.

We need to bring back the appeal of our traditional rural markets. We follow international standards. But for our India there are separate traditional measurement methods. Many of us are unaware of our traditional measurement system. International standards in popular markets should be avoided in some places to promote rural tourism. We have to follow our traditional market measurement methods there. We need to follow our traditional measurement methods at rural tourism festivals.

Every village should be promoted and helped to generate or strengthen its unique image/identity. Ex. Andretta, Himachal Pradesh, is known as Artist Village. The image is so strong that it could attract tourists which ultimately led to development in infrastructure to cater tourism. This would not only promote tourism but also help villagers learn/preserve/propagate traditions and generate employment within the community. For promotion purpose, government can recognize and certify villages.

we can make arrangements for the museums, galleries related to history of famous place in the district or particular place and also can establish knowledge parks and labs such science museum 3d films about science, doll museum, studios etc keeping in view all environmental concerns as well so that village community,children and tourist can visit the place and enrich their knowledge along with tourism

ग्रामीण क्षेत्र में पर्यटन को विकस‍ित करने के लिए, ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में कई लंबी अवधि से रिक्‍त पडे भू-भाग पर पार्क/दर्शनीय स्‍थल विकसित किए जा सकते हैं, ताकि उस खाली पड़े भू-भाग से पर्यटन को बढावा दिया जा सके एवं ग्रामीण अंचल के युवाओं को रोजगार के अवसर भी प्रदान किए जा सकें।

Every constitution has a unique place, use MPs to identify and promote the place in his constituency. Fix compulsory usage % for tourism under MPs const Development fund. Encourage usage by announcing rewards through ministry of tourism. Use local NGO's to maintain the developed infrastructure Impliment single window clearance for Ease of doing Tourism Encourage active participation of rural pepl for development. Not only will it bring new opportunities, better infrastructure and communication facilities to the villages, but also bring the heart of India to the tourists who wish to see where true India resides

Rural tourism can also promote community diversification as local people can start leveraging their existing resources of economic and social benefit. Communities which have unique resource can earn their livelihood by strengthening their skills, thereby enhancing community pride.
