Every year 27th September is celebrated as World Tourism Day. This year the theme of World Tourism Day is Tourism and Rural Development. Tourism helps rural communities hold onto their unique natural and cultural heritage, supporting conservation projects, including those safeguarding endangered species, lost traditions or flavours. Tourism has proven to be a lifeline for many rural communities. The sector is not just a leading source of employment, particularly for women and youth but it also provides opportunities for territorial cohesion and socio-economic inclusion for even the most remote regions.
Our villages and the people who live there are a true custodians and manifestation of our culture.
As we work towards more sustainable development of our country, developing related hard and soft infrastructure and promoting tourism in rural India is much required.

Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with MyGov invites you to share your views ideas on Rural India- How it can leverage tourism.

Infrastructure development is a pre-requisite to gain higher tourist numbers as well as tourism receipts, and requires the combined effort of the host community, tourists and private and public sectors. The public sector needs to set up the planning, regulation and monitoring systems that use public spending as a catalyst to attract capital investment from the private sector to enhance the competitiveness and economic appeal of the destination.

In order to capitalise on this huge potential, we need to ramp up infrastructure creation and human capital development to carve a niche in the highly competitive international tourism market. Through a multi-modal focus on air, road and rail, significant improvements in last mile connectivity can be expected with budgetary appropriations on improving rural infrastructure, skill development and diversifying livelihood opportunities.

Maximum share in Our Country is Rural Area. Without Village we can't think any more like Farm, Land and much more which help to Grow our country...

जब तक हमारे देश के किसान और गांव ग्रामीण भारत सशक्त नहीं होगा तब तक पर्यटन की सुविधाएं केवल सफेद हाथी साबित होंगी अतः देश और प्रदेश में तमाम ऐसी जगह है जहां पर पर्यटन की तमाम संभावनाएं हैं परंतु सरकार की व्यवस्था यहां न होने के कारण लोगों के पास धन अभाव के कारण व्यवस्थाएं नहीं हो पा रही हैं अतः सरकार को ध्यान देना चाहिए ग्रामीण इलाकों में लोगों को पर्याप्त बैंकों से धन मुहैया कराएं जिससे कि ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में भी पर्यटन की संभावनाएं विशेष रूप से हो

Namaste.. 🙏🏻 Tourism is needed to our village people in order to survive... but for effective Tourism first knowledge and steps should be known to them... and then they will succeed...

Every rural area has its unique identity and that unique identity can be transferred to l leverage tourism. We need to do survey in which rural area and find out which uniqueness has adopted by that rural area and then we have to work on it and by working we can be result out that rural portion might be full of tourism. We have to follow - Search Rural leverage tourism campaign Every panchayat or respective body will definitely find some ideas if this will be the campaign.

l always feel our tourism sector is a blend of Historical and pilgrim related tourism apart from sight seeing and camping in a particular sported area. I think our country is much more places mentioned initially compared to other Nations The exsisting temples connected with lithographic architectural and archeological values. Some are now in visible condition and others maybe either dilapidated or deburied. If such works should be done by interested youths,it will result a revolution in tourism.

tourism place an important role in economy, I think educating rural people, increasing tourism infrastructure, promoting export of local goods and crafts can develop rural tourism in our great nation'
