Every year 27th September is celebrated as World Tourism Day. This year the theme of World Tourism Day is Tourism and Rural Development. Tourism helps rural communities hold onto their unique natural and cultural heritage, supporting conservation projects, including those safeguarding endangered species, lost traditions or flavours. Tourism has proven to be a lifeline for many rural communities. The sector is not just a leading source of employment, particularly for women and youth but it also provides opportunities for territorial cohesion and socio-economic inclusion for even the most remote regions.
Our villages and the people who live there are a true custodians and manifestation of our culture.
As we work towards more sustainable development of our country, developing related hard and soft infrastructure and promoting tourism in rural India is much required.

Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with MyGov invites you to share your views ideas on Rural India- How it can leverage tourism.

Rural India particularly Khatik and Valmiki community has lost their employment due to halal mafia. Today halal community have become so large that govt or even courts do not dare to do anything which effects them. FSSAI has guidelines to do animal or bird slaughtering only after stunning them but halal mafia never does that because it’s haraam in their religion but what about Indian kanoon? Will someone dare to get it implemented? I think No

ఒకప్పటి గ్రామ భారత ప్రజలలో స్వచ్ఛత ఇప్పుడు కరువైనది. నేను, నాది, నావారు అనే భ్రమ నరనరముల జీర్ణించుకొని పోయి కుల, మత అనే అజ్ఞతతో ధన సంపాదనే ధ్యేయముగా భావిస్తున్నారు కొంతమంది, వారి మూలముగా మంచి వారు అనేక బాధలు పడుతూ ఉన్నారు. కుల, మతములకు అతీతమైన నిజాయుతీ జీవితము జీవించడానికి కావలసిన ఆధ్యాత్మికత నిండిన విధ్యాబోధన మీరు భారత్ లో తీసుకొని రావాలి. చిన్నతనము సత్యమైన ఆలోచనలు పసి హృదయములలో నింపాలి. భారత్లో అద్భుతమైన ఆధ్యాత్మిక సాహిత్యము ఉన్నది,అది ఆచరణలో పెడితే అత్యాచారములు, మానభంగములు లేని భారత్ అవుతుంది

The current situation of tourism potential of India is heavily promoting tourism focusing primarily on its resources strengths and innovative plans by government. It can be improve by internet because tourism can control their viewing experience within the limitations of available information.

Rural tourism contributes to the rural development which leads to the employment generation. Rural tourism also helps in increasing connectivity and decreasing the rural urban distance. It also preserves our local tradition develop new skills among the rural people. So, Rural India can also leverage tourism. Jai Jawan Jai Kisan

To leverage tourism, we need to understand how to attract tourists. In rural areas, we still see our culture which is now missing in urban areas. We should do some development which can help local people to promote our culture as well as they get employment from these. And we should promote folk songs and folk dance which can attract tourists to go to the place of origin to see them live. There has to be development on basic infrastructure because without that no other development can be done

The Tourism ministry in the recent past introduced schemes such as the Swadesh Darshan and Prasad scheme. These schemes are really good and have been instrumental in augmenting the tourism infrastructure of our country. We must remember that an overwhelming majority of Indians live in rural India. I think the Jal Shakti Abhiyan is a brilliant scheme as it is a people's movement. A similar effort needs to made to develop a scheme where in promoting rural tourism becomes a people centric movement

The FM has declared scheme for central government employees for availing LTC and festival loan... the festival loan is good. .But LTC encashment should be without any restriction,except TDS, or atleast with 12% GST buying articles. It should not be with stringent condition or expending twice the amount of LTC encashment...no employee will spend their own equal money to to be eligible for LTC encashment... being an ex govt employee...I feel it should be simple so that every employee avail it.

Rural Tourism can be enhanced by identifying untouched tourist destinations and developing the infrastructure of the rural areas taking the local rural community into project mode. Local food and delicacies should be identified and need to be brought before the tourists. Reviving the lost specialities of the place must be taken into consideration for the development of tourist interest.
