Every year 27th September is celebrated as World Tourism Day. This year the theme of World Tourism Day is Tourism and Rural Development. Tourism helps rural communities hold onto their unique natural and cultural heritage, supporting conservation projects, including those safeguarding endangered species, lost traditions or flavours. Tourism has proven to be a lifeline for many rural communities. The sector is not just a leading source of employment, particularly for women and youth but it also provides opportunities for territorial cohesion and socio-economic inclusion for even the most remote regions.
Our villages and the people who live there are a true custodians and manifestation of our culture.
As we work towards more sustainable development of our country, developing related hard and soft infrastructure and promoting tourism in rural India is much required.

Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with MyGov invites you to share your views ideas on Rural India- How it can leverage tourism.

Indian village having its own natural beauty. Mini forest may be created near each village . Ponds & roads are developed. Individual small cottage may be done by Tourism Department to promote tourism in specified villages.

Each state is well known for something great.The rural village of those state can promote there ancient and famous tradition or handmade stuffs to attract tourism, by creating a small group of people to large community. Living a good life in low facility zone can set an example for the tourist. Make a path to promote each ancient tradition of rural area through social media hence an eye sight for tourism.

In this modern society ,villages represents our ancient India. They are full of arts and tradition that we used to have. The most efficient way to increase tourism is by promoting the traditions and arts. I will not only increase tourism but will help our new city generation to reconnect with our roots ,it will save those traditions and arts that are on the verge of extinction and will provide new ways of employment to people of village and thus they can represent our tradition globally .

PM Sahab how many MP/MLAs Judges IAS, Army, police folks across 75 years are staying permanently in their constituencies . No return to cities. In Public domain I cud find Shree Yogi Adityanathji & Gorakhpur development is visible. Very rare media talks of Amethi/Rai Bareli as one of the most backward represented by the most powerful MPs & Owners of India with all the ecosystem. Contrast this with Zoho Mr. Sridhar who left USA & all biz from village. US retired Prez also stay in their native

MP/MLAs maximum from village areas have abandoned them Zilch in 70 years. Disappointed. US they make a normal cliff in the sea on 17 mile road saying chinese arrived 1st & they have a fantastic aquarium. Wales/scotland, have preserved their pristine Glory . How shivaji or other kings fought /defended , how they reached the places, How the temples have history - life in nature etc. From anywhere U reach highway max 10-15 minutes & destination in 3 hours but Mumba/Delhi exit take> 3hrs

Our villages are rich with culture and history. Every village is connected with few or more historic events and Every village have it's own different food and different culture. १ Villages have Ponds in centre of every village, that can be developed into lake. २ Villages have historic Temples or monuments, that can be developed into tourist attraction. ३ Villages have organic and authentic foods, which is direct from farms 🚜🐄🌾. This can be promoted as heritage village stay.

When we were talking about rural tourism we can promote there culture and make a tourist model based on there culture engage the tourist with locals and give a brief insight to the pure culture via home stays instead of hotels, make restaurant based on their culture for eg. Havelis in north India

Crop wise tourism like paddy, jowar wheat and spices in A. P., Karnataka, North India and Kerala respectively. 3. Fruit wise tourism Village in Himachal pradesh for Apples 4.
