Every year 27th September is celebrated as World Tourism Day. This year the theme of World Tourism Day is Tourism and Rural Development. Tourism helps rural communities hold onto their unique natural and cultural heritage, supporting conservation projects, including those safeguarding endangered species, lost traditions or flavours. Tourism has proven to be a lifeline for many rural communities. The sector is not just a leading source of employment, particularly for women and youth but it also provides opportunities for territorial cohesion and socio-economic inclusion for even the most remote regions.
Our villages and the people who live there are a true custodians and manifestation of our culture.
As we work towards more sustainable development of our country, developing related hard and soft infrastructure and promoting tourism in rural India is much required.

Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with MyGov invites you to share your views ideas on Rural India- How it can leverage tourism.

Suggestion for Rural Tourism growth India govt. should be work for infrastructure redevelop at palaces where regional cultural site as which village there are big pond & famous religious land. second where near a historical palace like Chausa in Buxar District Bihar . It famous for Sher Shah suree & Himayun battle field their Humayu escape from battle by cross the ganga river. Chausa is also famous for chavvanrishi ashram & another by Ganga Pump Nahar where 2.5 kilometer nahar build Pillor.

One of the biggest challenges in rural India is deforestation and water shortage. With environmental degradation, farming and water availability suffers. NREGA should be used as a vehicle to push tree plantation - all local native trees that can be a mix of fruit bearing trees, forest produce trees etc. Miyawaki Technique is a huge success. Also try building the great green walls like China is going to stop the spread of gobi desert.

Rural Tourism is the botheration of private entrepreneurs and the Government should give incentives like investment subsidy and interest subvention. Please do the needful to provide such encouragement, I have a excellent project with NativeCows but no institution is interested to fund it. Can you arrange viability gap funding for this unique project? This project is answer to the nation;s problems like climate control, water preservation, high usage of chemical fertilisers and pesticides, etc

Move the big ticket expense to village mainly marriage . India spends a big amount of money on it . How to do it build a marriage villages . The entire ecosystem should be changed to accommodate this . All the local craftsman can be employed and each house can accommodate the visiting guests . Like saree the local weaver can be employed . The local musicians can be used for entertainment and the possibility is end less . This will help build a vibrant rural economy.

I am sharing a business model in which rural tourism can be easily promoted with very limited infrastructure. There are multiple phases in this project and have the potential of mass employment opportunities for the rural population in their own native places. Once these projects are established and their break-even funds are retrieved. The funds generated will help in developing the village as well as for the regular income of the villagers.

We can start a country wide smart village plan same as the smart city plan. Villages can be selected adjacent to the smart cities already designated by the government which would act as a support for the infrastructure and help needed to progress the village keeping tourism in mind. The aim is not keeping the village still a village but slowly bringing it at par to cities so that the people don't leave villages anymore and the villages are self sufficient to draw in business.

In each and every district Head Quarters there must be a tourist promotion council. They should arrange tours at least at weekends for seeing places within the district. They can visit village industries and agriculture fields. So that urban people will get the experience of rural life and rural handicrafts. By doing this our villages will be developed.

Making farmers to adopt integrated farming, growing specific climate and region bound crops... So that farmers are benifited & serves as attractive as to look. Also making desi and local food dishes more popular according to region.
