Every year 27th September is celebrated as World Tourism Day. This year the theme of World Tourism Day is Tourism and Rural Development. Tourism helps rural communities hold onto their unique natural and cultural heritage, supporting conservation projects, including those safeguarding endangered species, lost traditions or flavours. Tourism has proven to be a lifeline for many rural communities. The sector is not just a leading source of employment, particularly for women and youth but it also provides opportunities for territorial cohesion and socio-economic inclusion for even the most remote regions.
Our villages and the people who live there are a true custodians and manifestation of our culture.
As we work towards more sustainable development of our country, developing related hard and soft infrastructure and promoting tourism in rural India is much required.

Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with MyGov invites you to share your views ideas on Rural India- How it can leverage tourism.

Village is considered as the heart of India and it is this that India is unique in terms of cultural relationship..Every state has its different customs and traditions which are seen at the rural level. My view is that we can establish a cultural department in every village which should be given the responsibility to promote the specificity of their village through social media, Print media and other promotional ways. The works of these rural departments should be evaluated and rewarded.

main issue in this context or field is the lack of promotion. advertisements which are published or broadcasted on t.v. are just focussing on the urban context and that too only the places which are known to everyone everywhere. like for jodhpur- just the mehrangarh fort umaid palace etc. advertisements should show the old city or rural context. film industries should more oftenly use the rural locations for movies. bollywood has the capability to change the mind set. celebrities should visit

Cluster based development by considering geographical similarities which go beyond state borders e.g.Forest,Rann of Kutch which doesn’t restrict to state borders.Tribal-rural youth, women to be trained in hospitality sector.Tourism of natural wetlands &vegetation, medicinal plants, art &cultural practices, instead of just giving taste of local cuisines tourists can be given opportunity to be involved in agricultural process as kids could understand how the food comes to platter.Infra. development

Sir, my suggestion is to promote Tourism in Rural area first of all improve Panchayati Raj and our Police departments those are posted in Rural area and make their own rules and regulation not bothered of govt. rules in which they are not friendly in all the states of India even languages problems, sign boards all have their own rules therefore all villagers are not familiar with out siders those are coming from different states and different countries so honesty, sincerity and helping must be.

Organic farming, integrative medicine setups for lifestyle diseases, encouraging rural and folk medicine will be best way to promote tourism as right now 3/4 world is fighting chronic health conditions. Rural background health resorts with ayurveda as theme with excellent aurvedic physicians ( Kerala based models) can substantially increase tourism

Dear Shri Narendra Modi, One way to convince our farming community, about the recent amendments concerning them,is to send Shri Rajnath Singh(himself a farmer, whose words will carry conviction. He could mention to them, how they could(using earlier successful initiatives in states,in managing to sell their produce at a profit, without referring to the APMC.These examples, will help our government attain their confidence and hence, remove any apprehensions.
