Every year 27th September is celebrated as World Tourism Day. This year the theme of World Tourism Day is Tourism and Rural Development. Tourism helps rural communities hold onto their unique natural and cultural heritage, supporting conservation projects, including those safeguarding endangered species, lost traditions or flavours. Tourism has proven to be a lifeline for many rural communities. The sector is not just a leading source of employment, particularly for women and youth but it also provides opportunities for territorial cohesion and socio-economic inclusion for even the most remote regions.
Our villages and the people who live there are a true custodians and manifestation of our culture.
As we work towards more sustainable development of our country, developing related hard and soft infrastructure and promoting tourism in rural India is much required.

Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with MyGov invites you to share your views ideas on Rural India- How it can leverage tourism.

Any tourist who is out on a vacation looks for leisure and adventure, Rural tourism can be boosted by creating theme parks based on Village like environment with good comforts, tourists could taste the local specialties of food and culture where they could connect with the locals. Locals should also be educated the importance of tourists and how to embrace and appreciate tourist's valuable visit. Because most of tourists always complaints of being stared and eve tease.

India is renowned as World of cultures. Our rural commodities are unique, colorful and exceptional. If we slowly start commodities to sell at tourist places more famous, things like economical and knowledge flow will start. Find places where Ancient Indian architecture is profound and start training guides with correct information and produce some souvenirs or collectables. This will not only increase tourism in rurals but will also help build better services to reach there by train, air, road

*Use of Social media*. People should highlight their Native, Village attraction and write some interesting facts why someone visit to that place. Share some good photographs on the social channel and tag their friends. I am sure this will slowly increase the visit to the place..

Rural tourism can be leveraged by making it more inclusive as one of our integral part. We need to know and understand our people and promote the uniqueness by encouraging them. In today's world we can feature ourselves worldwide with a click of a button. However there needs to be proper inclusive approach.
