Sir, most families consider diff-abled relatives as a burden, more the burden if it is a girl / woman. This is mainly due to the lack of awareness of the disability itself, social stigma attached to some of these illnesses, poor treatment and therapy centers, lack of support & training for care givers and insignificant job opportunities for those not significantly impaired. If every district had a dedicated centre for rehabilitation & an inspired Soc. Ser. director, it would make a difference.
