Corporation of Chennai is preparing a proposal towards Smart City Challenge which would include city wide smart urban solutions as well as identification of areas within the city for its implementation.

The proposal would be defined primarily based on voice of Chennai residents. An extensive citizen engagement programme is established by Corporation of Chennai to document the views and concernsfor the same.

Residents may post their opinion and ideas on civic services such as transport, parking, water supply, sanitation, energy, housing, IT solutions, health, education, safety and security. Your views, opinion and solutions on urban issues faced by Chennai would not only support a better tomorrow for Chennaites, it will also make Chennai a strong contender for getting shortlisted as one of the first 20 cities in India to implement Smart City Solutions in Phase 1.

Chennai citizen and community is its biggest strength. Let’s participate to make this proposal inclusive and meaningful for every common man, every citizen.

In order to digitize the revenue land records for the Patta transfer , Property Tax and Water tax the present database is full of errors because of no audit done while entering the same . The results are obvious and everyday when we add a new area for the Greater Chennai we the residents have to run from pillar to post due this. Unless this is done with greater efficiency all the smartness of online transfer of payment will never ever work. Nobody pays for wrong address or name

we know india is digitalizing 1)Try cut down the paper where ever possible 2)Brings services through online .Man handling is top reason for bribes in government office and train the govt official with proper computer training and equip well to handle the public queries. which really improves the quality of government services and also change the look of citizen towards public services 3) Atlast connectivity of transport and education.list never ends these imp.points for smart city

Better drainage and sewage and electricity Roads should be laid in such a way it should not dig again for drainage or sewage or electricity or telephone lines before laying the road do the ground workings properly so that there should not be any reason to dig the road again unless its unavoidable situatution to dig the road again this absolutely waste of public money digging and laying the road again.most of the times it happens to new laid roads. then road never look like road.

please think about levying tax on own vehicles(white board) parked in roadside permanently.this will prevent builders deviating the plan and convert parking area as shops or rooms. off late there is rampant parking of vehicles in roads as people are purchasing 4 wheelers without parking area.most of the people are using cars only on saturday, sunday. all taxi and other travel (yellow board) vehicles can be parked in theatre parking area as night there wont be disturbance for public.

Improved and better Public transport facilities especially MTC.. Integrated Transport system covering both road and rail will work wonders. An effective Waste management process should be in place unlike what is currently present which is plain dumping of wastes. Reclaim Pallikaranai Marsh land - a boon which converts waste water into clean water.

Thank you Corporation and staff for your work in difficult conditions. Please increase green cover of Chennai, especially when the vehicular population is increasing everyday.A definite health hazard. The recent activity of laying concrete platforms is a an example. Existing trees are choked with concrete blocks, and no provision exists for planting trees.Cities, like Pune, ensure planting shade bearing trees like peepal, and neem on roads which reduces dust and trees are transplanted,if need be

One other details to be shared, laying of EB cable or water pipelines etc all underground connections should be parked under an easily removable concrete lid. This will avoid us in mainly digging newly laid roads and also saves time & easy maintainence. Even that should have a water drain system. During rainy season water getting in should be drained immd in order to prevent from any cable damages. Lay some good standard cables which is also one important factor not any sub-standard one.
