Corporation of Chennai is preparing a proposal towards Smart City Challenge which would include city wide smart urban solutions as well as identification of areas within the city for its implementation.

The proposal would be defined primarily based on voice of Chennai residents. An extensive citizen engagement programme is established by Corporation of Chennai to document the views and concernsfor the same.

Residents may post their opinion and ideas on civic services such as transport, parking, water supply, sanitation, energy, housing, IT solutions,health, education, safety and security. Your views, opinion and solutions on urban issues faced by Chennai would not only support a better tomorrow for Chennaites, it will also make Chennai a strong contender for getting shortlisted as one of the first 20 cities in India to implement Smart City Solutions in Phase 1.

Chennai citizen and community is its biggest strength. Let’s participate to make this proposal inclusive and meaningful for every common man, every citizen.

Smart city should have internet available even during travel at free of cost. There should be building constructed where people can park their vehicles esecialy in busy areas... also metro rails should connect each corner of city..so that public should feel that metro transport is best than using their own vehicles..this reduce traffic jam and govt can make pofit

There should be no lose soil around buildings. The korean grass is grown in common areas ...this will avoid dust and sand flying around and gets deposited in roads and also casuing dust pollution. This grass will make the city greenery and no dust pollution.

Police and Traffic police think they rule the city. So implement rules in such a way there is no room for taking bribes and treat public in a nice way.

1) All departments to work together, if a road has to be laid. All telephone, EB, Water, sewage etc..because have seen road ebing laid and with in one month some other department again dig the road to lay something and after potholes...new road will be laid again. With in few months one more department will dig again to lay their cable. So money wasted and causes inconevenience to public using the road. So proper planning and all departments to be consulted or use soem system where the laid road

When the PM talk about SMART CITY, let him ensure that first law and order is properly maintained in the city of chennai. Insist all residential flats/comemrical establishments to put CCTV covering the road. Let Mr. Modi extend some special concession for the RWA on CCTV cameras. This will to major extend prevent the act of rowdism by the anti-nationals. Hope inthe forthcoming budget, his finance minstry extends maximum concession to CCTV cameras luring the residents to go in for CCTV cameras.

How did the police on duty at that place allowed individuals to take law into their hands. Book those corrupt officials also. As this is an extraordinary situation which warrants extraordinary step taken by the Hon'ble Court. Let their action on these kind of corrupt officials, send strong message to the society at large.

Catch hold of the official who has given trade licence/renewed licence. As per corporation rules, no commercial establishment is allowed to function without CCTV. Insist for the CCTV recordings of the incident. Catch hold of the corrupt civic authorities for their failure to do their duty. Unless the court act on this this kind of goondaism will be on the raise.

See todays TOI, Chennai edition page 3 - " Man, 54, beaten in scuffle over parking space, dies. First and foremost is that the Hon'ble Courts must suomoto take this issue of their own and direct the authorities to file FIR on unknown persons from Chennai Corporation, Traffic Police and also police (L & O). How come the incident took place when the visitors of restaurant are allowed to park in front of other's premises.

To avoid the un authorized parking and traffic mess on the road, the Traffic Police should place the warning boards and outsource the un authorized towing job to Private agency who aggressively do this work.

Good Water & Proper road are the high priority things which would differentiate normal city vs Smart City. Right now water is sold at rocket price and 50% of the road is occupied for parking.
