Corporation of Chennai is preparing a proposal towards Smart City Challenge which would include city wide smart urban solutions as well as identification of areas within the city for its implementation.

The proposal would be defined primarily based on voice of Chennai residents. An extensive citizen engagement programme is established by Corporation of Chennai to document the views and concernsfor the same.

Residents may post their opinion and ideas on civic services such as transport, parking, water supply, sanitation, energy, housing, IT solutions,health, education, safety and security. Your views, opinion and solutions on urban issues faced by Chennai would not only support a better tomorrow for Chennaites, it will also make Chennai a strong contender for getting shortlisted as one of the first 20 cities in India to implement Smart City Solutions in Phase 1.

Chennai citizen and community is its biggest strength. Let’s participate to make this proposal inclusive and meaningful for every common man, every citizen.

1.Seperate lane for bus. 2.Every road with traffic update & travel time to reach 3.All tolls with automatic electronic clearance thro registered mobile number/phone. 4.All EB substations with GPS /modem , fault indication /alarm in mobile. 5.All streets all houses with different colours of dustbin Green/Red/Yellow for garbage clearance. 6.All roads with Red button appeal for pedestrian crossing 7.All public transport / stations with easy movement for disabled person. 8.one travel card

Connected city is a smart city. Pls connect Velachery railway station to Tambaram railway station. Flying trains in this route would be great. Whole city will be connected this way.

We are good in giving ideas. but we are bad in following them laws and rules can be made but should be made to follow. ENFORCEMENT is the key i can see more signages asking to keep city clean in chennai than that in new york So, fines shall be made, penalties be severe for public areas misuse for which we can use technology, so as to make every citizen a police or a law protector over the other and enforce the laws and rules over everyone. smart phone recording of violations, grievances..

I. CHENNAI Metro city major roads should be classified into 4 categries as per following: 1. Six Lane Road 2. Four Lane Road 3. Two Lane Road and 4. Single Lane Road for Public Transport. All the above roads should have a mimimum of 40ft service lane on both sides for vechicle movement and to provide Electric transformer, Metro water sintex tank,Police Booth, Platform for use of only Pedestrian, Paid Parking for Two wheeler,Auto,Car and Paid Parking for call taxi & Auto stand. II

More police men should be recruited like in USA. USA is safe because there are 3-4 police men for each street (even with low population) and continuous patroling happens. We have lots of population to be taken care of, why not invest our income tax on police men. This way lots of public issues will be addressed. We prefer more Police men on duty on the roads for public and women safety. That definitely make our city smart.

Sewage.: • Sewage – Need to plan, draft & test alternative sewage transportation to cover up coovum river (Suggest to analysis foreign countries patterns in deriving alternative methods) Safety & Security.: • Good to see small police booths in city, But need to spread / open many more small police booths for effective access

Smart City needs following things - 1. Free public clean Toilets in every nook and corner. Atleast close to every bus stop, railway station and should be usable and maintained. 2. Dust bins in every bus stop to throw tickets which otherwise is littered on streets. 3. CCTV cameras in every street.
