The TRAI has issued a consultation paper on 27.11.2019 on “Transparency in Publishing of Tariff Offers”. Considering the dynamics of the telecommunication sector, consumer faces situation of lack of information and misleading information. Further, the information accessed by the consumer is mosr of the time unclear or hard to find and even if the consumer is able to access information, it is difficult to assess and compare in the marketplace. All these factors affects the ability of consumer to make informed choice which serves their needs.

The TRAI through the consultation paper desires to explore newer consumer protection measures to enhance transparency in information communication such as mandating provision of cost calculators, introduction of unique id of tariffs to bridge the gap between tariffs reported and published, framework of display of tariff on websites etc. The following questions are being posed for comments of stakeholders. The last date for receiving the comments as extended is 23rd January, 2020.

The plans offered by telecom companies such as Airtel, Reliance Jio, etc where they offer non-telecom products such as membership to OTT platforms, free membership to music streaming services, etc. Even though these steps, if in force, give visibility and addresses consumer concerns, the impact may be seen negatively on the OTT platforms.

कोई भी टेलीकॉम कंपनी को टैरिफ प्लान दो भागो में जारी करने चाहिए।पहला कॉलिंग के लिए दूसरा नेट डाटा पैक के लिए।दोनों एक दूसरे से बिल्कुल अलग हो और कॉम्बो प्लान से सस्ता हो ताकि स्मार्टफोन यूजर्स को अधिभार न पड़े ।फोन सस्ते में उपलब्ध करा के सारे सेटेलाइट लॉन्च का खर्च पब्लिकों से वसूला जाए।ये आने वाले समय के लिए मंहगाई के संकेत हैं,सस्ते फोन पर टैक्स बढ़ाए जाएं।

It may be made mandatory for each service provider to produce some sort of comparative tariff chart vis a vis other service providers to the consumer through SMS with a link to their website. This would help the user to assess the cost per unit of data/telecom for fair assessment of price.

Respected sir, Tarrif should apply for approx one year because if we will do this then public will not in problem to take their annual budget.So,you should apply your for annual after you should add changes in that. Thank you

Transparency may be by, tarrif should be allow to One month, three months, six and yearly basis. Tarrif should be fixed one. Tarrif should be people beneficial. Tarrif plans should be published by media flash, seminars and sharing has to be encouraged. A journal on tarrif should be published. Computerized record keeping, each state coordination offices should monitor the tarrif. An enforcement agency to set up National level and at state level coordination offices has to look after tarrif relate
