The Finance Minister in his budget speech for the Union Budget 2015-16 made the following announcement:
“One way to curb the flow of black money is to discourage transactions in cash. Now that a majority of Indians has or can have, a RUPAY debit card. I therefore, proposes to introduce soon several measure that will incentivize credit or debit card transactions and disincentivize cash transaction”.
Accordingly, draft proposals for facilitating electronic transactions (E-transactions) have been prepared. Comments and views are invited on the Draft Proposals.

Excellent initiative. Here are few other suggestions. Ensure merchants do not charge the customers an extra "1-2%" for card payments Currently, flight carriers & other travel portals, online cinema booking charge a convenience fee (ranging from 30-300 INR) for every card transaction. Need to ensure such fees are not levied to the consumer. Abolish the "surcharge" & service charge by IRCTC and petrol pumps add to the bill when paying through debit/credit card. #RUPAY #Economy #Cards

Better late than never. Start as soon as possible, but request to disclose disadvantages also if any. Kindly provide better rewards for honest tax payers, who use cards for making payments than shopkeepers who often avoid issuing bills. Also introduce visa & master card..like type transactions technology developed & own by RBI.Lets not depend on visa/mastercards/Maestro etc.. Tax exemptions should be only for transactions done through Indian Technology.

Success for Cash less Society is Possible only when Inspector Raj is Abolished i,e,Asking Banks NOT to Submit Transaction Statement of Credit Card.Once The Governance is By totally Digital Nothing can be hidden & hence it is better that Government Encourages Honesty by doing away with Inspector Raj.& Trusts its Citizens. Giving Incentive for Payment by Cashless Mode in form of IT Benefit is a good Idea but it should be Tempting. Payments By Card for Taxi's Must be Made Mandatory.

Good Idea, You can reduce the number of transactions in #urban areas. I doubt that still a lot more need to be done when it comes to #rural areas. It sounds odd if we force some one to use e-cards as many might not be comfortable. When I was in europe/south korea, where we used to go we used to find swiping facility. But not so as the case in India, even in cities we find less POS terminals

A good approach for minimizing the flow of hard cash. Surely it will help in reducing manufacturing cost of paper cash. All outlets should also be encouraged to accept cards and the surcharge on card transactions should be waived especially on petrol pumps.... #Economy, #ElectronicTransactions

If v go to PVR in Bangalore, they charge Rs.160 and above for coke, a family will be spending Rs. 1000/- just for F&B in theaters. Most of the times they don't even accept cards. Need to be done something on this.I also suggest that, in my opinion our economy has fallen and black money generated because of removing lower denominations as paisa, 5 paisa, 25 paisa and 50 paisa. I see the rates as 999.95 and they take 1000, the 5 paisa will be black. so please get back lower denominations.
