As part of citizen engagement & consultation process for preparation of Smart City Proposal New Town Kolkata Development Authority has organized a wide range of activities involving Residential complex level consultations, discussion with Stakeholders, instituting Smart Fridays, Organizing Smart Kiosks for leveraging online and offline submissions, live online relays of discussions, essay writing competition, sit and draw events, Cyclathon to promote the concept of clean transport, Hackathon ( To be held on 12th and 13th of December 2015) etc to elicit what the citizens aspire their city to be like and to encourage them to participate in the process in an inclusive manner. Apart from this, various other social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, NKDA Website etc were used to reach the citizens of this city.

At the end of the citizen consultation process, NKDA having received overwhelming feedbacks from its citizens has prepared a Draft Smart City Proposal for the city largely based on popular will expressed though online and offline polls. Utmost care has been taken to ensure that citizen’s voices have been incorporated in the preparation of the draft proposal.

NKDA invites all citizens of Newtown Kolkata to peruse the draft Smart City Plan for their city and submit specific and brief suggestions to help us in further enrichment of this plan.
