“The earth, water and the air are not a gift to us from our parents but a loan from our children.” ---Anonymous

Energy resources have transformed human lives and lifestyles. Energy resources have allowed for human achievement and ambition to move from the potter’s wheel, farmer’s plough and the weaver’s loom to space missions and robots among others. However, the modern world looms in the shadow of a severe energy crisis: the result of unsustainable and inefficient use of energy resources.

Unsustainable and inefficient energy consumption threatens the very basis of life as we have come to know it. In the face of the increasing scarcity of energy resources it is imperative that we launch a committed, concerted and cumulative effort towards holistic energy use habits and sustainable consumption patterns.

Energy conservation most importantly means that conservation becomes an all pervasive habit, an everyday philosophy and practice that aims to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels, adoption of energy efficient lifestyles and fostering innovations in green and clean energy technologies.

D&NHPDCL invites suggestions, guidance, comments from citizens, self-help groups, environmental organisations towards developing Energy Conservation as a habit towards an energy secure future.

A few suggestions for energy conservation. Use light sensitive switches for all street lighting. Sensitize school children and adults about wise use of energy and conservation. Provide tax incentives for energy efficient vehicles.

Every citizen should be made aware of the importance of energy saving. When one is going of any room and there is nobody in that room, then the fan and lights should be put off. Infact this issue should be a part of school cariculam and parents also take care that their children strictly fallow this practice of putting off lights and fan when they leave the room

Strongly believe in Water Conservation, must in todays times1.Fine and do not allow concretization of govt land may it be DDA, GDA etc (a lot happens because of bribes taken by the authorities). Most of the kothi bungalow owners cover with bricks, cement all areas outside their houses, which is a big reason for depletion of ground water levels in the cities2.Limited tanks for house owners3.Monthly Survey/Inspection of overflowing tanks 4.Compulsory water harvesting/conservation for new societies

Continuing on the waste management systems, the volunteers should be from the societies who work closely with the municipal authorities. Bio gas plant setups should not be limited only to villages, the gas produced such can be supplied to the poor and the needy if required along with using it for other mohalla/locality requirements.

Sir,The suggestion list is huge but increasing the awareness, usage and conservation of renewable energy sources is a must.1. Newer societies and/or upcoming residential areas should compulsorily use Solar Energy for their society, uses like street lights, lifts etc 2. Waste disposal systems should be setup in each and every society or else fined. Where the wet waste is used to prepare manure for the society garden areas or even can be sold if in excess.3.BioGasplants for municipalities/mohallas

Sir 3 suggestions Can we have a program to replace all government lights with energy efficient LED lights . Also mandate that these led should come from make in india not China give away the bulbs to poor for the time being . This will have a dramatic impact if all govt psu are forced and private sector pushed at least listed ones . 2 pl have 2 time zones don't force north east to switch on lights . 3 remove excise duty from buses and people cariers

Respected Sir, Please allow On-grid solar system in India. All this means is that people utility system acts as your battery space. If they are producing more energy with your solar panels or system than they are using, the excess energy is sent to your grid’s power company, allowing you to build credit that them with cash. This way we can reduce the shortage of power in India. This will create job opportunity for a lot of people and new business in India with clean energy

Online information regarding availability of solar, wind energy for day to day use in non-existent. A portal that gives suggestions, buying guide etc would be really helpful. I was looking into using a windmill powered water pump, but couldn't find any information. The portal can give information as what part of daily chores use a lot of resources and how to cut it down. Like for reducing temperature of AC temperature by one degree, how much more resource are you using.
