Sustainable Exploitation of oil and gas potential of the North East region could be a harbinger of economic prosperity for the people of the region. Presently there seems to be a disconnect between the local communities and the Exploration and Production (E&P) operators in the region. This seems to be discouraging E&P activities in the region thereby reducing the number of takers for operations in the region. Although the Govt. of India has been taking several initiatives to promote E&P in the NER, it is essential to make the local communities an important stakeholder in the process.

Suggestions are invited from the public which could encourage people's participation in these activities.

Since the current market economy discounts the existing prices on diesel & petrol, maintain them by appropriate adjustment in excise duties, as there is no advantage is reducing these prices. This will help the govt not only reduce the fiscal deficit but keep cushion for sudden rise in crude prices. Evolve subsidy sharing with upstream companies (ONGC etc), where in their share is zero at $50 and goes up gradually to 50-60% by $100 and stagnates. LPG subsidy capped at current level & deregulate.

Biggest challenges with petroleum sector is limited sources of petroleum & crude oil. India buys almost 75% of petroleum products from OPEC. So to save oil for india self reliance, India start using renewal energy like wind energy or solar energy. If solar or wind energy can be used in AC or other sources of electricity, it can be better used to run car or small vehicles & dollars & environment both can be saved with these energy since these energy do not produce green house gases.

Respected Sir,Hydroelectric power is the best alternative when implemented in a planned way.Ecological as well as seismic considerations have to be factored into. Proper education and public awareness will remove popular misgivings and prevent ignoramuses and pesons with questionable motives and dubious background from making political capital out of it by spreading rumours and false information, organising demonstrations against it without any scientific backing.

The biggest problem I think in the NE exist in the connectivity with rest of India. NE is rich in oil gas but E&P is very difficult. States like Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur are very scarcely explored for Oil gas. Even some constitutional provisions are contradictory wrt exploitation of natural resources(oil gas & minerals) by state and centre in NE. Suitable legislation should follow to remove ambiguity.

if there is a solution for other energy such as green energy like solar system ,it should participate in our NE states so that people got job opportunities in plant or factory otherwise we should compromise with nature...any suggestion ??
