Sustainable Exploitation of oil and gas potential of the North East region could be a harbinger of economic prosperity for the people of the region. Presently there seems to be a disconnect between the local communities and the Exploration and Production (E&P) operators in the region. This seems to be discouraging E&P activities in the region thereby reducing the number of takers for operations in the region. Although the Govt. of India has been taking several initiatives to promote E&P in the NER, it is essential to make the local communities an important stakeholder in the process.

Suggestions are invited from the public which could encourage people's participation in these activities.

What is government doing to curb the corruption in govt. offices. I had to get my documents attested from MEA before coming overseas for a job. I had to pay Rs 2000/- bribe for each document. Official fee is Rs50/-. I had 12 documents for attestation. When I objected to the bribe the signing authority told me to go and have them attested from some one who does it for Rs50/-.

I feel a need for universities and educational institutes in the area with potential of E&P. So that if E&P companies go looking for skilled workforce, they find more and more locals. E&P companies should be incentivized to develop corporate offices in or near E&P zones. For example what is ONGC doing in Dehradun?, there is no Oil there.

Government runs STATISTICAL DEPARTMENT which is one of the useless department. There are so many companies not registered with the statistical department. But the department cook up the reports from the registered companies in their own way and submit the same to the government. There is no correct information in this reports. Once you registered your firm with the statistical department that is an another expenditure to the company. Because the persons taking tips and cook up the reports.

Safe Drivers - Safe India - I think a lot of lives can be saved by making sure we have skilled drivers on road and they have chance to learn safe-driving on regular basis(on-demand basis). Presently many get their driving license without proper training/passing the test(by paying bribe) and evenif someone tries to improve their driving skill it is very diffult to practice in indian roads. I propose government take the following steps - 1. Create driving simulators for indian roads where any drivers can practice driving in various driving conditions by paying a small fee. 2. Make driving tests mandatory for all license renewals through those simulated self-service kiosks and make sure a driving license is valid for only 5 years. To avoid capacity issues and bribery, fraud etc. it should be automated - the use-case can be - enter your old driving license number and your retina scan to enter the kiosk, start the test, once passed a renewed license is printed out automatically. If failed the driver need to take some more training in simulated environment and then take the test again.
