Sustainable Exploitation of oil and gas potential of the North East region could be a harbinger of economic prosperity for the people of the region. Presently there seems to be a disconnect between the local communities and the Exploration and Production (E&P) operators in the region. This seems to be discouraging E&P activities in the region thereby reducing the number of takers for operations in the region. Although the Govt. of India has been taking several initiatives to promote E&P in the NER, it is essential to make the local communities an important stakeholder in the process.

Suggestions are invited from the public which could encourage people's participation in these activities.

NE region is very underdeveloped. First government will have to make it equally developed as the western region, then only demand will increase and participation too.

Govt should consider extending basic health insurance for all and provide health cards for this purpose. Before issuing health cards public should be advised to visit designated centres where blood samples, bio metrics and iris scan should be recorded. From the blood sample DNA finding should also be stored which can be used to prove citizenship in case they are held abroad. Healthcard should be linked to adhar and Passport. Needless to stay it will be helpful to bring back indian citizen hiding in foreign country after committing crimes in india.

Aadhar card registration should commence in overseas consulates to cover NRI population. Invariably NRI's who are residing with family abroad often face problems in providing address proof and increasingly aadhar card is being asked for any utility services which also doubles up as address proof. It will be of great help if govt takes necessary steps to cover NRI population.
