Sustainable Exploitation of oil and gas potential of the North East region could be a harbinger of economic prosperity for the people of the region. Presently there seems to be a disconnect between the local communities and the Exploration and Production (E&P) operators in the region. This seems to be discouraging E&P activities in the region thereby reducing the number of takers for operations in the region. Although the Govt. of India has been taking several initiatives to promote E&P in the NER, it is essential to make the local communities an important stakeholder in the process.

Suggestions are invited from the public which could encourage people's participation in these activities.

All the industries are allotting 30% of their land for green belt. Now the Govt. should work on war footing basis for giving option for installing Solar Power Plant in place of green belt. This will meet part of the power requirement of the industry and more environmental friendly when compare with Green Belt option because ONE MWh (1000 units) thermal power generation release >11 MT of Carbon-dioxide per hour.

Petroleum products are sold in market thru dealers under different categories. If malpractices are to be controlled then a uniform policy is required. All pumps should be given on leased land taken by the company. For betterment all PSU oil companies should merge. Mergers do indeed achieved significant cost savings through the elimination or outsourcing of non-core functions, the rationalization of staff and cutbacks on overheads.

Sir, all two wheelers of more than 150cc should be banned since they are creating pollution unnecessary pollution (bikes giving mileage of 20, 30, 40). Same way, cars of more than 1500cc should be banned. Cars moving with less than two person should be penalised with Rs.1,000/- fine. In cities like Delhi, only people those have parking place in their homes should be permitted to purchase cars. Same way any other 4 wheeler owner should have parking place for his vehicle before purchase.
