With a dramatic growth in elementary education enrolments and improvements in retention and transition rates in recent years, particularly amongst the more disadvantaged groups, there is an increasing pressure on the secondary schools to admit more students. With the enforcement of RTE Act and further improvement in retention and transition rates, demand for secondary schooling will grow rapidly in the coming years. The objective of this discussion group is to assess to what extent we have made quality education available, accessible and affordable to the target population in the age group of 14–18 years. How we can increase access to post elementary education across the country in a manner so as to ensure no child is denied the opportunity of completing his/her school education. In particular, how can we address the geographical and social disparities in secondary education?

The new policy must have Hands on training from primary school itself so as to reinforce practical knowledge rather than just theoritical rote.

1st thing is that we need to make education at-least till 12th compulsory for our people, without which there shouldn't be any job prospects even in government sector. Our education system needs to change, currently we have education as one of the businesses in India, and its very lucrative. We need to make education affordable to everyone; Govt should fix the prices depending upon the courses, which would promote education, instead of subsidies in other sectors.

1.Govt should consider to close almost useless conurses like BA. Lacs of students do this course but no one gets real benefits from this couse. 2. Practical approach should be there in syllabus right from schools. Children should get knowledge of accounting, sales, market analysis etc various practical experience and projects on such type of studies. 3. Project groups should have compulsions such as these should be formed of from different religion and caste and also should be from diffrent inc

Education system will succeed when it increases creativity of a student. Most of our current education system focuses only on exams. A student memorizes a topic without acquiring any knowledge about it and vomits in exam paper. After the class of fifth, there won't be any necessity to memorize.Even a lot of teachers who deserves this useless education system need to be trained first of all.

1. Make moral education as important as the material education. Teach what is wrong to do in the society and at personal level. 2. Specialize more starting from lower standards. For eg. after earning a bachelor's engineers degree I feel that what I learnt upto 12th standard was afterall not that relevant for my field (IT) Please make this textarea a little bigger, its almost impossible to see what I typed earlier. Also 500 chars is enough for positing a small comment but not enough for review.
