There is a need to improve access to child health services. The Ministry of Health is focusing on promoting child health through appropriate interventions. Presently, the Department of School Education and Literacy, MHRD addresses the nutritional needs of school going children in the age group of 6-14 years through the Mid- Day Meal (MDM) Scheme. The Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) under WCD also addresses the issues of child health. There is, however, a need to synergize the multi-sectoral interventions taken by the relevant GOI Ministries. The existing schemes need to be examined for their outcomes and impediments in implementation, including those of coordination. This theme seeks views and suggestions on how to ensure greater focus on child through improvements in existing schemes and suggest new holistic interventions.

Mid-Day-Meal scheme should be reconsidered. This facility should not be compromised with child education and child development as both these factors are being neglected in this scheme at present.

There must be more and more practicals and activities till 10th standard, and less theoretical knowledge with reduced the burden of heavy books to carry all the time. because after graduation, no one remembered about the detailed lessons they learned in theory session in school. but they do remember all the practical knowledge they learned. Basic Computer lessons and usage of Computers must be regular with all kind of study materials.

Yoga and other exercises be made mandatory. Fillip to a child's health by sports being given equal importance. Regular parent teacher sessions discussing about the children's health. Less academic burden will certainly improve a child's mental burden thereby improving health.
