The stage 2 of the Smart City competition is very crucial as each city’s Smart City Proposal (SCP) is supposed to contain the model chosen, whether retrofitting or redevelopment or greenfield development or a mix thereof, and additionally include Pan-City dimension with Smart Solutions. The Smart City Proposal (SCP) will also outline the consultations held with the city residents and other stakeholders. Also, a vision for the Smart City has to be prepared, and this vision should emerge from the needs, aspirations and wishes of the local people to make their city offering more to live better life.

The biggest driver of the Smart City is the smart citizen. Citizen involvement in Smart Cities is elevated. So, the Smart City Proposal will be Citizen Centric, designated after consultations with residents of the city and through active participation of various groups such as Residents Welfare Associations (RWAs), Tax Payers Associations (TPAs), Senior Citizens and Slum Dwellers Associations (SDAs).

During consultations, various issues such as areas of utmost concern, needs and priorities of citizens and different groups/associations will be identified and people centric solutions will be evolved.

Chandigarh Administration hereby invites the citizens of Chandigarh to share their views on ‘How to make Chandigarh a Smart City’. The campaign aims to increase public participation in Chandigarh Administration’s effort to garner support for the city’s quest for a Smart City tag.

The residents of Chandigarh can also post, share their ideas, views and opinions on ‘Smart Chandigarh’- the official mobile app of U.T., Administration.

[Part 1] Being a Mumbai based urbanite myself, I very well understand the problems, we people face because of poor town planning by local bodies. Many a times, the local bodies are totally clueless when they start out on a survey for laying the utilities, and most often than not, they realize the scope of work only after they actually start the digging. The ‘planning’ phase here completely goes out for a toss.

CHANDIGARH is the wealthiest town of India. Making it smart will require : -ICT enablers -Protection of the environment -Creation of knowledge-intensive companies -Services to the citizen: Quality of life

Dear Sir/Madam, Currently India government launch various projects under "DIGITAL INDIA" program. If we want make Chandigarh smart city then first requirement is digital literate citizen. It is possible if government institutions like Panjab university provide its infrastructure at evening time for those who want computer education. Currently university running only morning classes and at evening time all infrastructure like computer machines are free.

Dear friends, Mostly people coming in Chandigarh are student, patients and some for other purposes like job, high court, tourism etc. But overall two category students and patients strength are too much high. I think Chandigarh GOVERNMENT solve the studentS and patients issues.

I request the Admin to please create a separate discussion topic on Smart Transport for U.T. Chandigarh. As one of the component for Chandigarh to become Smart City would be Smart Transport.

We have to invite investment in tourism development . Lot of scope exist in Chandigarh . We have to create activities on the pattern of Singapore and ask private/ public sector to develop a project and govt should create and help in developing the facility. Lake is a beautiful place but this is mainly used for morning/ evening walkers . This can be used for much more things for entertainment and lots of other activities. This is possible only if the govt allows pvt players to invest .

Not related to this discussion but can we have groups for all other smart cities also? Or is it going to be brought out soon? Since it's a very good idea to start discussions focusing on particular city than in general for all.. As each city will have its own special features relating to Geography, lifestyle, cultures etc..

sir Many of the areas of Chandigarh really bad in condition like a slum . and many poor people on roads . they sleep on roads. That emotional but sir how we can help them all time we also dont have enough jobs for them but sir you have to try to teach each any every poor child. and take all poor people from rodes and make Chandigarh clean and make strict rules for citizen to mantian their surrounding.try to start trackable number plates automatically when we break signal it added in our acc.
