The proposed IIM Bill 2015 proposes to grant statutory status to thirteen existing Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) at Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Indore, ...

The proposed IIM Bill 2015 proposes to grant statutory status to thirteen existing Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) at Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Indore, Kozhikode, Shillong, Raipur, Ranchi, Rohtak, Kashipur, Tiruchirapalli and Udaipur, and declare them as Institutions of National Importance, to enable them to grant degrees to their students in the academic courses conducted by these institutes. Till now, these Institutions could award only certificate, Post Graduate Diploma and Fellow Programme in Management Certificate, which lacked universal acceptability in the field of academia and research. The Post-graduate Diploma in Management Programme was relatively unaffected by absence of a formal degree, both in terms of recruitment of students as well as suitable placements in job market but the Fellow Programme in Management did not get the same status as that of a Ph.D. in the job market, especially in faculty appointments. As a result, the Fellow Programme in Management (equivalent to Ph.D), without the formal degree stamp, has not, been able to attract talented students, required to develop a strong research base in the country in the field of management education and also address the faculty shortages affecting the management institutions in the country. The proposed Bill will address this gap. Fulltext: Draft IIM Bill 2015 Give your inputs/suggestions on Draft IIM Bill 2015 The last date to share your views is 24th June, 2015

If there would be iims in every state, the purpose of management schools will be diluted. We will have more management students than the jobs available, finally resulting in unemployment.

Each state of india should have extension center of IIM , where there should be limited seats but with best infrastuctures of managments of thats states , thats will encourage other institutes of thats region to be competitive and more devlop in thats region to improve quality with the best performers , because india in a large country with huge manpower , so management should plan to cover more and more region and sectors to provide quality education

I think, an IIM or an IIT graduate must work in a loss making PSU so that the errors in management, technologis and probable failures can be identified and rectified. That way, the PSU can be enabled to become more successful

The best way of Promotion of Information and Communication Technology systems in school and adult education is to allot all the possible allocable opportunities of learning and promoting to the privileged reservation categories and corrupt, selfish persons, like chaiwalas who fulfill their dreams "around the world" at the cost of nation's money, shot slogans of good doing to the poor.

In my view while reservation may continue at under graduate level , the admissions at PG level in these institutions crating back bone of managerial talent in the country , should be merit based . Ravindranath Shenoy.

The Bill should include a cap on the no. of IIMs a particular state can have. Along with this the Bill should include the no. of seats a particular IIM can accommodate.
