How to promote Indian handlooms as a brand and to ensure quality products to the consumers?

India has a long tradition of excellence in making handloom products with extraordinary skills and craftsmanship. 44 lakh weavers are engaged in this activity, out of which 78% are women.

By the Handlooms (Reservation of Articles for production) Act, 1985, the Central Government has reserved articles or class of articles for exclusive production of handlooms for the protection and development of the handloom industry.
Further to this effort, the Ministry of Textiles launched “Handloom Mark” scheme with effect from 28.06.2006 for promoting and preserving the Indian handloom products and securing a premium position in the domestic as well as international market. This provides a collective identity to the handloom products of India for popularizing the hand woven products originating from the handloom sector. Thus, the Handloom Mark does not necessarily guarantee a bench mark quality for the product, but ensures only the origin of the product.

Though the weavers produce rich variety of designs and textures, there is not much emphasis on the quality of the product due to various reasons. Experience of implementing Handloom Mark in the past years indicate that this has served the limited purpose of production of cloth by handlooms and not been able to address the quality related parameters which are integral for development of handloom as a niche product.

It is stressed on the need to produce a fabric “with no defect and no effect on environment” and develop “Indian Handlooms” brand for assuring quality products meeting social and environmental compliances.

Today 70% farmers r in debt.farmer feeding nation, made nation self sufficient but plight of farmer is remaiprecarious.eq.sugar cane farmer r being not paid fully due to inefficient sugar factory and political ownership. Though sugar price is low, today but during plantation of input cost was high ,how then sugar factory stating that they are not gaining to much from crushing sugar.they are using every part of sugarcane such as sugar, molasses to ethanol to bio fertilizer for huge profit ?

Indian handlooms is basically good product but quality trust is a doubtful in consumers because look of the product is not good.because first impression is best if we improve the look get best quality and sales.For Examble we buy a Shirt in Air conditioner show room product cost it is come around Rs 800, Same Quality Shirt sale in ordinary show room or plate form cost is RS200, Most of the people will buy a shirt in Airconditioner show room because presentation (look) so people belive it's good compare to other, So we need upgrade the showroom and to be improve the packing method.

Special efforts should be done to promote indian handloom brands in the form of Dress codes of government schools and colleges.Also textile merchants and shop owners should be provided good incentives to sell indian handloom brands as well as it shouls be available for shopping on various e-commerce sites as people nowadays are more interested in buying things online .

I am not here just to praise you. I want to tell you about the common man's perspective. I was waiting for this day for 59 years, I celebrated it as a new independence day but I am seeing you are not doing things as a real peoples service, you are shining your image, please tke some action so that thousands of servicemen, govt officers who were tormented by previous govt for just being with JanSangh are still crying and actually have become a loke and laughed at for being your supporters

Modi ji please donot let people's aspirations fall in the gutter.India shining was shattered like a husk pile because real people at the bottom who make the bulk of India were not considered and touched by any of your programs. Government media is still run by the same corrupt people, we do not see any change. Even a small state level government reshuffles the offices who run the day to day business in sarkar. Why dont you take lesson fron Delhi, government machinery is 50% responsible for it.
