Although Indian Railways enjoy the highest captive eyeballs in a railway system internationally, it earns less than 5% of its revenues through non-tariff sources. Many of the world railway systems generate 10% to 20% of their revenues from non-tariff sources.

IR typically has focused on increasing revenues through tariff hikes. It wants to change this and challenge the conventional thinking by exploiting new sources of revenue so that every asset, tangible or non-tangible, gets optimally monetized

We invite ideas from citizens on increasing non fare revenue for Indian Railways.

Increase the number of sitting travel and bogie based on demand increase the number of trains based on waiting list. Give other benefit of pick up from passenger residence or place and make them get dropped at their destination residence place by including in the fare.

separate freight fee for goods moving towards indian market and exports. courier services. tieup with e commerce gaints in delivering goods. utilizing vacant railway land for storage house for goods...for farm produce..education..skill development..health..etc..lands near highways can be used for building hotels and restaurants ...innovative ideas should be given importance in planning rather than creating whole new infrastructure for non fare revenue generation

If you need to increase non fare revenue means you can put solar girls on trains and railway stations to aviode fuel consumption and reduce the electricity bill and the main thing one time we invest then we need not worry about that because it is a renewable sources of energy so that we will redus our revenue

My views are as follows: 1. Improve the quantity and quality of accommodation provided at various stations for passengers which may be extended for non passengers also. Make good hotels near to stations in the land available with railway. 2. Make centralized kitchens at big stations which are run by solar/biogas/biomass like non-fossil fuels. 3. Provide facility at stations for paperless tickets including platform tickets digitally like paytm etc with tickets received as message in mobile.

1st of all many People dont buy tickets for train or local trains.Make every platform secure and locked just like Metro stations.1st start with the big stations.Make every Ticket Rfid chip just like metro.Thats will lead every man to buy tickets. That way our rail way can income more. And Railway can give us more trains to travel.so the chaos happening in trains for seat, that will not happen.

If you want to reduce accidents means you need to make two tracks and in that one we need to make sure where more no of trains running we required good signal strength because in some places we can't able get a signal then it may cause any accidental hazardous so that we need to require more no works for railway gates because in some backward area we can't able to see railway gates properly so that we need correct that and then we will reduce some accidents.

1.Non fare revenue generation should be on corporate model 2.Decentralised planning in revenue generation . ex. 1. different freight rate for mineral areas like chotanagpur region. 2. giving contracts for private players in innovative business models like shopping, meals , advertising on trains 3. district level boards for monitoring and revenue generation 4. adopting best international practices 5. entertainment facilities on wheels can be fee
