In my opinion 'The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) is currently seeking public consultation on draft accessibility standards for the public sector mainly the "PRODUCTS" sector. These standards aim to ensure barrier-free environments in line with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. Stakeholders are invited to review the draft standards. The draft standards focus on non-negotiable rules for various aspects of accessibility, including physical, sensory, cognitive, and digital elements. 1.Physical/Ergonomic: This is very easy-to-open packaging with large print. Very important for tactile markings and ergonomic designs. 2.Sensory:,It has High contrast, Braille, audible/visual feedback. 3.Cognitive/Communication: Plain language, pictograms, accessible documentation. Digital/Web: QR codes, compliance with standards, accessible e-commerce. 4.Regulatory/Usability: Compliance with ISO and BIS standards, universal design.

Accessibility standards should make it mandatory for all products (mobiles, ATMs, websites, household appliances) to have voice assistance, tactile buttons, and high-contrast displays. Clear pictorial instructions in multiple Indian languages should be provided with every product to ensure persons with visual, hearing, and cognitive disabilities can use them independently.
