Mr.Prime Minister, A month back the export of wheat was banned and last week export of sugar was restricted. This shows our Data base and updating mechanism on agro products needs more attention and focus. India is a country variety of crops are cultivated in each state. There need to be a monitoring agency under GoI. They must collect information from each state on the type of crop cultivated, extent of land used for each commodity cultivated, expected yield at state level, short fall in yield due rain or draught etc. This information will help to project likely hood of surplus supply than demand or vice versa. This will enable the Govts to get ready to ban or plan for import such commodities.
