Every child deserves love, care, and a family. For Divyaang (children with special needs), family-based care plays a vital role in their emotional and social growth. While India has made progress through the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA), many children with special needs still live in institutions due to social stigma, lack of awareness, and limited support systems.
To promote non-institutional rehabilitation, awareness is the first step. Families should be educated about adoption and foster care options through national campaigns and community programs. Sharing success stories of families who have adopted Divyaang children can inspire others.
The government can strengthen this process by offering financial incentives, healthcare benefits, and counseling support for adoptive families. Simplifying adoption procedures and ensuring trained professionals in every district will make the process more inclusive and efficient.
