The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna PMFBY was launched on 18th February 2016 by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. 21 states implemented the scheme in Kharif 2016 whereas 23 states and 2 UTs have implemented the scheme in Rabi 2016-17. Approximately 3.7 Crores farmers have been insured in the Kharif 2016 for 3.7 crore ha of land at premium of Rs 16212 crore for a sum insured of Rs 128568.94 crore as per figures available on 31.03.2017.

I think farmers should avoid un natural fertilizers and adopt organic and natural farming . this will lead to healthy farming and it improves soil fertility. and increases the production of fruits and vegetables. our government should take initiative to encourage organic and natural farming. this will make country healthy safe and independent. so I request our government to take a step forward to encourage natural farming .

किसान भागीदारी प्राथमिकता हमारी अभियान के तहत देश भर में फसल बीमा पाठशाला का आयोजन किया गया । कृषि मंत्री नरेंद्र सिंह तोमर ने राज्य मंत्री कैलाश चौधरी के साथ फसल बीमा पाठशाला पर राष्ट्रीय स्तर के विशेष कार्यक्रम की अध्यक्षता की। एक लाख से अधिक किसानों से वर्चुअली बातचीत में श्री तोमर ने कहा कि फसल बीमा योजना के तहत सरकार को किसानों से प्रीमियम राशि के रूप में 21 हजार करोड़ रुपये की राशि‍ प्राप्‍त हुई है जबकि केन्‍द्र सरकार द्वारा फसलों में नुकसान के दावों के लिए एक लाख पंद्रह हजार करोड़ रुपये की राशि किसानों को दी गई है। उन्होंने कहा कि कृषि मजबूत होगी तो देश मजबूत होगा। उन्होंने कहा कि सरकार इस बात पर ध्‍यान दे रही है कि किसानों की आय को कैसे बढाया जाये। श्री तोमर ने प्रधानमंत्री किसान सम्मान निधि योजना का उल्‍लेख करते हुए कहा कि इस योजना के अन्‍तर्गत 11 हजार पांच सौ करोड़ पंजीकृत किसानों को एक लाख 82 हजार करोड़ रुपये हस्तांतरित किए गए हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि केन्‍द्र सरकार, राज्य सरकार के साथ मिलकर किसानों के हित के लिए विभिन्न योजनाओं पर काम कर रही है।
