A centralized digital portal should be developed where citizens can securely submit complaints, track case progress, and receive timely updates. This will improve transparency, efficiency, and public trust in the functioning of ED.

Inviting suggestions on improvement in the functioning of ED If you mean the functioning of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in India, improving it isn’t just about stricter enforcement—it’s about making it more credible, transparent, and efficient. Here are practical, grounded suggestions: 1. Strengthen Transparency & Accountability ED often faces criticism for opacity. Publishing periodic reports (case status, conviction rates, timelines) would build public trust. Independent audits or parliamentary oversight can ensure actions are not perceived as arbitrary. 2. Reduce Political Perception A major concern is the perception of political bias. Clear, publicly defined criteria for initiating investigations and time-bound procedures would reduce doubts. Assigning cases through automated/random allocation systems could help. 3. Improve Conviction Rate High-profile arrests don’t matter if convictions are low. Focus should shift to: Stronger evidence collection

ED can become more effective by shifting from only “reaction after crime” to “prediction before crime”. A National Financial Risk Map using AI can identify unusual transaction clusters, fake companies, and scam-prone sectors in advance. Instead of long investigations with limited public understanding, ED can release quarterly simplified reports explaining major fraud patterns and preventive lessons for citizens. A student and youth financial awareness initiative in schools and colleges can reduce cyber and investment frauds at the grassroots level. Introducing mental wellness and ethics training for officers may also improve decision-making under pressure. A balance of technology, transparency, and preventive education can make ED more future-ready and trusted by people.
