Investment in land by the city for future. This will help planning for future expansion and avoid any slums or poor development in future. City should invest in land, develop it and provide planned housing to people at a lower than market interest rate. Also bring in more people in the development fold. Expansion is inevitable. In dharamshala vertical expansion can be risky due to the seismic vulnerability, the only solution is expand the city to planes towards kangra.

the major reason why previous city plans have failed miserably is failure to foresee the growth of cities. Dharamshala will expand as well, no matter what. Key is to plan ahead and expand municipal boundaries with time. We need to collaborate with adjacent administrative units like panchayats etc. to make sure that the planning standards are maintained. City should adopt panchayats that are most likely to join in if city expands. Set standards on design and architecture that must be followed.

Photo sensitive electric grid switches to control street lighting. Street lights can be a major source of electricity wastage. The problem can be solved with light sensors that detect the intensity of light at group of places. with usage of a mathematical formula we can determine whether to switch off the grid or not. This will save lot of electric energy.

Subsidy on electric vehicles. Invite startups/industries working on electric vehicles. Conversion of fossil fuel car to electric car is possible. If government promotes such initiatives, himachal can be pioneer in this area, in which sooner or later entire nation will follow. We should target for 0 cars city. Intra city transportation via electric buses or smart escalators.
