Keeping this in mind I would like to give a suggestion for the upcoming budget. There is a need to promote rainwater harvesting in India. Rainwater harvesting will increase the groundwater reserves which are depleting. The Govt can grant deduction to the mining companies on expenditure incurred on rainwater harvesting. I received information through informal channels that after extracting ores, the mine gets exhausted. Such pits can be used for harvesting rainwater.

Sir, I feel when we use the natural resources, we should also give it back to the nature. If the ecological balance isn't maintained, our future generations wont have any resources left for them to enjoy. One of such resources is water. It is a necessity and is required for survival of man kind. When hills are cut or mining pits dug, it impacts the process of water percolation. As a result ground water reserves get depleted. Keeping this in mind I would like to give a suggestion.

would like to make a suggestion on Income Tax. Presently, dividends from shares and mutual funds are totally exempt from income tax in the hands of recipients, as STT is paid on the amount. I am suggesting an upper limit of Rs 3 lakh for this amount. Amount above this should be made taxable. STT on the total dividend can be retained. This is likely to increase the number of tax payers, considering that the number of tax payers with income more than Rs 10 lakh has been given as a paltry 20 lakh.
