Promoting Hindi as a compulsory language not only in CBSE and other Central Govt.'s boards but also for all of the states secondary education boards will be very important. Every Indian must learn Hindi, English and the regional language like Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali etc. Thus Hindi can move towards becoming the link language of India and promote cultural integration.

develop a common vocabulary for sciences and social sciences in all Indian languages. Promote "quality" education in mother tongue. States where Hindi is taught as a second/third language should focus on communication skills only as this is most required practically. Recognise Devanagari as a linking script for all Indian languages. Free India of race based classification of Indian languages as this is based on a cooked theory.

If combined with technology enabled learning, any quality learning phenomenon / product / best practice of a community speaking one language can be made available with multiple language sub-titles to start with and based on requirement, value and budget multiple language audio options can as well be created and distributed.

Some Indian languages esp. Tribal languages and dialects are vanishing now. Many have already died. Govt. should provide special scholarships for not only Indian but world-wide researchers to ensure that these languages do not die. The folksongs, folktales, rich heritage of such languages should be documented to ensure that our posterity has access to it.

Our Higher Education needs to provide languages as a separate and independent faculty of study. Establishing University Research Chairs to foster language studies is neecssary. Govt. should seek national integration by establishing Depts. and Chairs at various Universities. For example, Tamil language Dept. and Chair in Norhtern Indian Universities; Marathi language Dept. and Chair in Karnataka Universities and vice versa, etc. HRD Ministry should start Online language teaching courses.

A Japanese Professor Dr. Aya Ikegame came to India and learnt Kannada. (read-http://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper/tp-national/tp-karnataka/aya-ikegame-says-namaskara-instead-of-konnichiwa/article3313305.ece) But we Indians hate other Indian languages. It is unfortunate that languages have become a tool for politics and vote-garnering. Be it the Hindi-South India issue or Konkani- Marathi issue. Higher Education needs to be more specific as far as study of linguistics is concerned.

There so many state languages in our country but most of the citizens do not know the language of any other states. My opinion is that each state at 9th & 10th std should introduce compulsory a state language class on weekly basis. The language can be optional depending upon the school curriculum.Marks obtain here under should carry weight-age.This may promote cultural integration not only in students encourage but their parents also.
