our education is not knowledge oriented it is marks oriented. so first of all teachers should be trained for better education. there must be some qualification for teachers.government shuold have hold on private schools. the cce pattern of cbse board is very effective but not followed by the schools properly. there must be encouragemnet for students in their favourite subjects.the syllabus should be revised time to time.

have met and interacted with around 15000 students in the last one year in various schools of Delhi Government. Immediate need for value based education and proper governance in school at base level to fix the responsibility of principal and teachers. students of capital of india have pathetic knowledge of the history, geography, science, maths or hindi. forget about english. teachers are least bothered about the mental social or economical up-liftment of student. students are of 6-12 class.

Majority of our Universities have become Examination conducting bodies only. The changes demand as I.Emphasis on research oriented or rather say investigation oriented approach for each stream (ARTS or SCIENCE) II.Establish mechanism to judge course effectiveness based on research works III.Credit oriented courses emphasising Research Paper Presentation rather than 100% Bookish knowledge

converge multiple education regulators working in compartments and conflicting each other into a single regulator of education and skill development. it may be NESDA (national education and skill development authority). let this new agency evolve scientific objective procedure for ranking and accreditation. why should we worry or be victim of inferiority complex if some european or american guided ranking body ranks/downgrade our present and future educational institutions.

The syllabus of the primary secondary and higher school education must be bridged between each other so that the student after passing class 10th opting for a stream dose not face problem in continuing with stream being selected by the student. Also Sanskrit must be made a compulsory subject up to 10th standard, starting from 4th standard. Vedic mathematics must be introduced in the primary sections rather than the western system of mathematics.

The courses must be made as per the requirement of the Washington Accord and also the courses of engineering and management studies (graduation, post graduation) must be made by consulting the industry so that the courses become industry specific. In engineering the study must finish in 3 years that covers the complete course and the fourth year must be kept for the internships, industrial training and visit, projects etc. which must have grading and credit system.

The process of granting the grant after the inspection is too slow followed by the UGC, which must be made fast. Because many of the University do not get the grant permission even after the visit of the UGC committee for many years.

Reduce red-tapism in universities allow researchers to focus on their work not paper work. Force senior researchers to listen to the views of their juniors. Seniors telling students their ideas are useless does not help research quality at all.

To improve rankings - pour money into research to improve the quality of research. Provide incentives for top performing researchers of Indian origin to return to India to improve the research quality and set up international collaborations with foreign universities. Allow industry to link with universities to improve research quality. Force all PhD students to publish atleast 3 journal papers in INTERNATIONAL PEER REVIEWED JOURNALS.

Improving research quality will raise rankings - get the best researchers in all fields (of Indian origin) who have gone overseas to come back and do their research in India - they need good facilities for this - lots of money has to be poured into their labs. Also international outlook is important to raise the rankings - encourage researchers of Indian origin in foreign countries to raise collaboration with universities in India. This will boost quality of publications.
