India has a rich legacy of practices and knowledge touching different spheres of life and a scientific heritage traversing various Science & Technology (S&T) domains. The traditional knowledge of India is available in various forms such as classical texts, manuscripts and/or as oral communication that has been passed on over thousands of years. This valuable knowledge is often part of our daily practices as well. Some of the traditional practices are livelihood means of the concerned knowledge holders. Our traditional practices exist in synergy between human needs and nature, often balancing resources and requirements in a local context. However, with time, India’s Traditional Knowledge Systems are eroding rapidly, and the nation has also been witnessing erosion in people’s faith towards our traditional knowledge. A grave concern is the mindless attitude of some to mimic non-Indian cultures and disdain for our traditions. It’s important to recognize that traditional heritage is an integral part of any country’s development and progression. This calls for necessary attention and action from the concerned stakeholders in the country to build further on our scientific inheritance. Only a well-informed and balanced society can drive the advancement of the country.

Under the visionary leadership of our Hon’ble Prime Minister and President, CSIR Society, Shri Narendra Modi, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is spearheading the efforts to collaborate with the relevant partners from across the country and implement the national initiative SVASTIK (Scientifically Validated Societal Traditional Knowledge) for communicating India’s traditional knowledge to the society. CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR) is the nodal organization to implement this national initiative.

The prime mission of the initiative is to conserve scientifically validated traditional practices, and instil confidence in citizens regarding the scientific values of our traditional knowledge/practices.

We invite the suggestions of academicians, researchers, subject-matter experts, students, NGOs, and the public on how to instil confidence in society about our traditional knowledge and practices. This will help us in our mission to inculcate a scientific temper and instil confidence in citizens by stimulating the Science-Scientist-Society connect towards our traditional knowledge and practices.

Hello Modi Ji - 1. My suggestion is to set up a center for entrepreneurship in every High School of the Country so that the idea of producing Job Creators is inculcated. Job creation is a mind set just as Congress party created the mind set that every one has to look for a job. Once the idea of Becoming Job creators permeates our high school students, a revolution of ideas will start. This will go a long way in creating a culture of entrepreneurs. 2. Also all high school’s should have entrepreneurship centers. 3. In every district of the country - create a Center Where you can learn to read and write Sanskrit up to College level. 4. Also to promote classical music, create a center for classical Hindustani Music for all age groups. For all these pursuits seek help from private sector and from Non profits. The above listed ideas will a) Promote entrepreneurship & b) promote and preserve our ancient civilization and culture.

Certain fungi, such as cordyceps, turkey tail mushroom, ganoderma, lion mane, chaga, mesima, and other polypores and psilocybin mushrooms, as well as lichens, can play a critical role in how well forests absorb carbon dioxide, allowing farmers to transition from seasonal crop patterns to agroforestry. This will undoubtedly increase the farmer’s revenue, doubling it every year, and this may be accomplished in as little as ten years! Our farmers can live considerably better lives and contribute far more to the global economy. Changes in agricultural practices and lifestyle have substantially reduced vegetation containing a kind of mycorrhiza known as ectomycorrhizal, which stores CO2 and converts it into microorganisms, which are then stored in plants and trees from the ecosystem. Medicinal fungi is the answer of every cure the science is looking for. This is an ancient system where the body is cured without artificial interventions in the body. We can help the government.

The true knowledge of traditional medicines and art of blending is gathered from the nomadic tribes of the mighty Himalayas. There are hundreds of medicinal plants and herbs as well as high potent medicinal mushrooms which are results orineted when it comes in curing a human body. But with the changes in climate we are losing these real health curing gems at a very high speed. We have a last chance to save all the medicinal herbs and mushrooms so that by 2025, we can prepare our nation for the health crisis pandemics and can contribute in the nation's economy by introducing these farming in the lifestyle of the farmers for a much better source of income. Within 3 years the health of the citizens can be corrected through right approach and practices. Using Ayurveda formulas and western techniques for faster absorption will cure the body. The traditional knowledge of our Ancestors should be brought forward , with more & more people be connected to it. weather it's architectural or medicinal . Their life style , agricultural practices , their social structure and many more areas. But all of these should be encouraged to be used into actual practices. People are now fed-up with more physical amenities and want peace of mind . So this is the right time that our old traditional knowledge should come in practices , specially for new generation.
