India has a rich legacy of practices and knowledge touching different spheres of life and a scientific heritage traversing various Science & Technology (S&T) domains. The traditional knowledge of India is available in various forms such as classical texts, manuscripts and/or as oral communication that has been passed on over thousands of years. This valuable knowledge is often part of our daily practices as well. Some of the traditional practices are livelihood means of the concerned knowledge holders. Our traditional practices exist in synergy between human needs and nature, often balancing resources and requirements in a local context. However, with time, India’s Traditional Knowledge Systems are eroding rapidly, and the nation has also been witnessing erosion in people’s faith towards our traditional knowledge. A grave concern is the mindless attitude of some to mimic non-Indian cultures and disdain for our traditions. It’s important to recognize that traditional heritage is an integral part of any country’s development and progression. This calls for necessary attention and action from the concerned stakeholders in the country to build further on our scientific inheritance. Only a well-informed and balanced society can drive the advancement of the country.

Under the visionary leadership of our Hon’ble Prime Minister and President, CSIR Society, Shri Narendra Modi, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is spearheading the efforts to collaborate with the relevant partners from across the country and implement the national initiative SVASTIK (Scientifically Validated Societal Traditional Knowledge) for communicating India’s traditional knowledge to the society. CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR) is the nodal organization to implement this national initiative.

The prime mission of the initiative is to conserve scientifically validated traditional practices, and instil confidence in citizens regarding the scientific values of our traditional knowledge/practices.

We invite the suggestions of academicians, researchers, subject-matter experts, students, NGOs, and the public on how to instil confidence in society about our traditional knowledge and practices. This will help us in our mission to inculcate a scientific temper and instil confidence in citizens by stimulating the Science-Scientist-Society connect towards our traditional knowledge and practices.

Honorable PM Dear Modi, With the change of economics and living style traditions will change and should change to accommodate present days living status. Treditions has to be improvised through innovation and technology. Bharat has evolved scientifically and improvised system was not adopted due to invasions of moguls and westerners. Today we need to eliminate non usable and bad traditions and improvise good traditions. Cast system attached to birth should be eliminated from constitution that is bad tradition. gender inequality should be eliminated that is bad tradition. Giving services for free for lazzy people is bad tradition. New style dress code can evolve as traditional dress also evolved from time to time sticking to unhealthy tradition will make people poorer and poorer as maintenance will become costly. many old traditions shall be scraped and new system shall be adopted like Dron ware fare in place of artilary. electric vehicle in place of fosil fuel

Women are specially the representatives of culture in India.As a woman she upholds her very nature of symbolising nature and her own mother land.Festivals in India are according to the lunar calendar which actually relates to the natures cycle and of a woman.We celebrate woman in every culture , religion and State. A woman dresses according to the geographic condition like the Rajasthani women wear ghoonghat to cover her head where as there is no ghoonghat system in the southern states because of the geographical condition. Women are advised to eat vegetarian food rich in minerals and vitamins as their hormone levels are balanced by it.Fasting also to reboot her system. I believe that the Indian culture is totally dedicated to womahood so as to keep her feminity alive and so as the Nation.

माननीय प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेंद्र मोदी जी का इस कांटेक्ट को चलाने के लिए कोटि-कोटि आभार कोटि-कोटि अभिनंदन हमें अपने ट्रेडीशन का पता होना चाहिए कि हमारा परिवेश में किस प्रकार की ट्रेडिशनल परंपरागत जो जो कह रहे हैं वह किस प्रकार किए जाते हैं उनके हमें ज्ञान होना अति आवश्यक है आज की भावी पीढ़ियां हमारी ऐसी है कि जिसको इन परंपरागत गाने को किसी भी प्रकार से ज्ञान नहीं है हर प्रदेश का हर जिले का हर गांव का अपने परंपरागत कार्य होते हैं उनके प्रति हमें जागरूक होना और आने वाली पीढ़ी को जागरूक करना अति आवश

भारत का पंरपरागत ज्ञान अद्भुत है,विज्ञान ने भी इस को माना है जैसा हम सब भौतिक विज्ञान मे प्रकाश को पढते है अंधेरे को नही.विज्ञान कहता है की केवल दो ही पहलू है ऊर्जा और स्थूल, वही हमारा पंरपरागत ज्ञान भी यही कहता है,आत्मा और शरीर, शरीर नष्ट हो जाता है पर आत्मा यानी ऊर्जा अमर है,यानी ऊर्जा को एक रूप से दूसरे रुप मे बदला जा सकता हैवैसे ही आत्मा अपना शरीर बदलती है,न उत्पन्न होती है न ही नष्ट होती है हमारा पंरापरागत ज्ञान हर पहलू से विज्ञान के कसौटी पर खरा उतरता है आज भी भारत मे जाने कितने पिछड़े गांवो मे पंरापरागत ज्ञान ही लोगो के काम आ रहा है,बडी बडी कम्पनियों ने जाने कितने पंरापरागत का उपयोग करके दवाओं को बना कर पेंटेंट कराया है.हवन करने से वातावरण शुध्द होता हैये बात विज्ञान ने भी माना है.होलिका के बाद आने वाले बसोडा त्योहार के बाद बासी खाना बंद कर देते है इस को भी विज्ञान ने माना हैआज जाने कितने लोगों ने पंरापरागत ज्ञान का उपयोग कर नए व्यापार शुरू करे हैसब विज्ञान से भी पास है,पंरापरागत ज्ञान को विज्ञान ने माना है और जाना भी है

In society, Bhramin is not a caste it is the accomplishment title given to a person by his Guru after observing and verifying their behaviour and attitude in all kind of situations. Through Upanayam rite guru accepts a student. In addition to Vedic knowledge student has to prove constructive nature by way of his thoughts, speach, and actions. (this is similar to Padma shree, or Puraskaar awards given by the government). Sacred thread is used to remind him that he is tied up to deliver only constructive things. (similar to today's corporate companies /hotel managements insist their employees to wear a Bow-Tie to please their customers).

हमारी traditional knowledge बहुत अच्छी है यदि हम उसका भरपूर उपयोग करे तो हमारा जीवन सुधर सकता है अच्छा हो सकता है प्राचीन शिक्षा पद्धति एवम प्राचीन चिकित्सा पद्धति भी इसके उदाहरण है प्राचीन आयुर्वेदिक चिकित्सा पद्धति आज भी अनेक रोगों के इलाज में सहायक है तथा जिन बीमारियों का ईलाज अंग्रेजी चिकित्सा पद्धति में नहीं है उसका ईलाज प्राचीन चिकित्सा पद्धति में है हमे केवल उसे याद करना है
