India has a rich legacy of practices and knowledge touching different spheres of life and a scientific heritage traversing various Science & Technology (S&T) domains. The traditional knowledge of India is available in various forms such as classical texts, manuscripts and/or as oral communication that has been passed on over thousands of years. This valuable knowledge is often part of our daily practices as well. Some of the traditional practices are livelihood means of the concerned knowledge holders. Our traditional practices exist in synergy between human needs and nature, often balancing resources and requirements in a local context. However, with time, India’s Traditional Knowledge Systems are eroding rapidly, and the nation has also been witnessing erosion in people’s faith towards our traditional knowledge. A grave concern is the mindless attitude of some to mimic non-Indian cultures and disdain for our traditions. It’s important to recognize that traditional heritage is an integral part of any country’s development and progression. This calls for necessary attention and action from the concerned stakeholders in the country to build further on our scientific inheritance. Only a well-informed and balanced society can drive the advancement of the country.

Under the visionary leadership of our Hon’ble Prime Minister and President, CSIR Society, Shri Narendra Modi, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is spearheading the efforts to collaborate with the relevant partners from across the country and implement the national initiative SVASTIK (Scientifically Validated Societal Traditional Knowledge) for communicating India’s traditional knowledge to the society. CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR) is the nodal organization to implement this national initiative.

The prime mission of the initiative is to conserve scientifically validated traditional practices, and instil confidence in citizens regarding the scientific values of our traditional knowledge/practices.

We invite the suggestions of academicians, researchers, subject-matter experts, students, NGOs, and the public on how to instil confidence in society about our traditional knowledge and practices. This will help us in our mission to inculcate a scientific temper and instil confidence in citizens by stimulating the Science-Scientist-Society connect towards our traditional knowledge and practices.

Traditional knowledge refers to: knowledge or practices passed down from generation to generation that form part of the traditions or heritage of Indigenous communities. knowledge or practice for which Indigenous communities act as the guardians or custodians.

Dear Modiji Traditional knowledge and practices can be enhanced with the help of local Panchayat or by the help of some NGO'S. or by exposing there talents in multimedia. if govt support each and every talents of traditional knowledge then there is no need of separate employment policy. traditional training in different feild will be useful

While globalization is harming the world culturally, there are reasons to believe that the world ought to embrace international integration. This is to say that the effects of globalization on culture can be good in the end. For example, today cultural differentiation allows mixing of cultures and breaking of barriers that existed before. By embracing culture, the world is encouraging pluralism and social harmony. In modern day and age, studying abroad is convenient because of shared educational systems and common languages. This allows people to fit in new environments with a lot of ease. This also applies in the business world where corporations are penetrating global markets easily because of mass advertising channels like TV and the internet.

Stray animals r bane of urban life . Protected by likes of Pfizer , peta . Y is it that it happens only in india . London u don't see these animals on roads but plenty inside the gardens & all safe. London could adopt the indian tradition but not India On how our indian mothers , the Annapurna Devis created a banquet out of nothing & not one guest went hungry ? There was food for all. 1sr roti for dogs, cows & then God . Where r these skills/training gone On how they remained , healthy & fit never heard of bsckpain of old people. Knee pain yes ? What did they eat ,wear or how they led life No c section deliveries . All normal handled by ladies of the house /dai Maa . Their life style . Yes infant mortality high but that too bcoz of vruses in the air. That should be no more. Western philosophy there is minimum c section but in india it is max ? Y ? Can't we revive the best of tribal , ancient practices

Make this as a subject in schools.So, that the knowledge of tredition and scientifical backgrounds of many aspects will confessed by the children from the root of future itself.And it will help the parents and people to get to know about the subject as they could give additional support and knowledge from their end. Also we can make advertisements through paintings, vedios, drawings, etc in public places like railway stations,bus stations, over the bridges..where people can hear and feel the theme.. Thank you..
