The strings of India's development have been inseparably attached to the success of its Textiles sector. The industry's symbiotic relationship with agriculture widens the range of beneficiaries.

•4.5 crore people are directly employed while another 6 crores are indirectly in this sector with a considerable stake of women and rural population.

•5% of the global trade in textiles and apparel is to India's credit.

•India's centuries-old knowledge and expertise in this sector have positioned it as the world's 2nd largest manufacturer and exporter with a 12% share in total exports (2018-19).

And now we, at the Textiles Ministry have our sights set on achieving global leader status for India. Government under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has been pushing for innovation and incentives to realise the mission of Aatmanirbhar Bharat by bolstering exports, quality & productivity, competitiveness, technology up-gradation, research & development, and training & skill development in this industry.

Now, we are keen to listen to the suggestions of Industry experts, innovators, students, business leaders, and all other contributors to this sector to expedite our mission. As we mark the 75th year of India's Independence, we want you to have an increased stake in the success of the Textiles industry.

The last date to share your ideas and suggestions is 15th August 2021.

Our handloom and village loom sector can be promoted by using their cloth and print for uniforms in both public and private sector organisations. Each state could promote their own heritage.

One bottleneck in Indian ecosystem could be the lack of importance to branding. I know several examples, ‘Ajay’ toothbrush has superior quality but very little branding, ‘Rupa’ innerwear, Bata slippers, It matters a lot to the modern customer. Indians r solid in traditional business knowledge systems, maybe the nuances of the modern business knowledge systems could be acquired

There are many sick textile industries in india. Government and RBI should instruct all the banks to give some benefits to the sick textile units for their revival.

Textile sector will expand by use of natural fiber, natural dye and organic branding. The steps should be first fulfill need of village people/locals then fullfilling regional need , then national need then last step should be export by judicious use of natural resources. If weavers/artisans/villagers/farmers will wear natural designer cloth instead of synthetic and low grade cloth then only Indias rich , traditional , designer textile will thrive.

I would like to suggest that, if MSME registered units could be provided by some initial fund to expedite their businesses and also if they can get a free access to showcase their products to state textile exhibitions. If small stories of these units can be telecast in dd National. And also if exceptions can be made in gst for the raw material that would be also helpful.
