A Committee of Experts under the Chairmanship of Shri. Kris Gopalakrishnan has been constituted vide OM No. 24(4)2019- CLES on 13.09.2019 to deliberate on Non-Personal Data Governance Framework. The committee drafted its report which was published for Public feedback/suggestions were been sought by 13th September 2020. Based on the public feedback/suggestions, the Expert Committee has revised its earlier report and a revised draft report has been prepared for the second round of public feedback/suggestions. The feedback will help the committee finalize the report.

Where will the data be stored? There should be a regulation that Data should be stored within Indian Borders and Jurisdiction. Why is there no retention/removal policy? Any sensitive data which gets misused or compromised should have an option of deletion or self-destruct.

Data Governance is the process, and procedure organizations use to manage, utilize, and protect their data. In this context, data can mean either all or a subset of a company's digital and/or hard copy assets. In fact, defining what data means to an organization is one of the data governance best practices.

Data governance (DG) is the process of managing the availability, usability, integrity and security of the data in enterprise systems, based on internal data standards and policies that also control data usage. Effective data governance ensures that data is consistent and trustworthy and doesn't get misused.
