The city of Davanagere is located at a distance of about 260 km from the state capital of Bangalore. It is nestled at the foothills of the Western Ghats. Previously known for its cotton mills, it is a fast developing city of Karnataka. The arid town was once a thriving textile center. This place is also called as 'Manchester of Karnataka' or textile capital of South India.

Davanagere City Municpal Council came into existence on 7th Aug, 1951. Later it is upgraded as Davanagere City Corporation on 6th Jan, 2007. Presently it has jurisdiction over an area of 68.63 Sq. Kms with over 1.5 lakh properties. Davanagere City Corporation is situated at the P B Road, opposite to City Railway Station, Davanagere.

For its governance, the Davanagere City Corporation is divided into 41 wards, each represented by a Corporator. The Corporators elect the Mayor, who is the administrator of the City and serves office for a term of one year. The administration of the Corporation is vested in the Commissioner, who is designated by the State Government.

Following points should be consider to make the Davangere as A Smart City:- 1)Proper Roads and Environment friendly vehicles are to be used to avoid Pollution and Noise. 2)There should be adequate amount of Water and Electric Supply to every house of the city. 3)There should be proper Growth of Education by opening more and more Coaching Institutes,Colleges,Schools and Other different Hubs. 4)Proper care should be taken of Women and Senior Citizens.

1)City should be free from pigs 2)There is a road named kr road specifically doggalli compound where there is vrl office,telephone exchange and many more,there is no good road in that area..daily we can see minor & major accidents in that road..so please construct good roads...definitely davangere will become smart city. 3)strict rules should be made.spitting and urinating on roads and public places should be punished or penalty must be collected. 4)Pollution should be controlled.

1) Wide roads and flyovers to connect from old city davanagere to new city davanagere 2) Proper basic facilities like 24 x 7 electricity , Water facility , house for all poor people 3) Rain water Management 4) Skill development centers 5) 24 x 7 maintenance team in respective fields 6) Quality of Education for poor people with affordable cost 7) Digital connectivity to rural areas also 8) E-Governance
