Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation, in Karnataka State has been selected by the Ministry of Urban Development as one of the 100 smart cities to participate in the “Smart City” Challenge Stage-2 by the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India.

Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation was constituted in the year 1962 by combining two cities separated by a distance of 20 kilometers. This was a unique experiment in urban development history. The area of this Corporation is 202.3sq.kms, spread over 45 revenue villages. The population of the city as per the 1991 Census was 7 lakhs. The present population is nearly more than 9.43 lakhs. Under the Government of India Act of 1850, the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal council was established on August 15, 1855.

Let’s join together to make Hubballi-Dharwad as a Smart City.

appointment on compensation basis should be banned in HDMC. such job seekers should be compenated to some other departments.

1.put stickers in buses such that it will be of all the sketch of the path of travelling that is names of all the stops where the buses will go 2. seprate column for women in bus stops such that the problems of women can be solved 3.development of gardens 4.availability of dust bins in city centers that they will be clean. 5.making of road humps in roads where crossings are there to prevent accidents. 6.electronic naming of places in buses and bus stops to make people understand easily

continued... 4. Lakes/wells/ponds to be revived and steps to be taken to ensure nobody pollutes them 5. Pot-hole free roads, pavements without hawkers 6. All local agencies should work in proper coordination. 7. Need for animal helpline no. like CUPA

Some of my suggestions for Smart City Hubballi-Dharwad :- 1. Civic Education should be made compulsory for all school and college students 2. Smart Waste Management System - 2a. Setting up of more number of waste-recycling units, especially plastic-waste recycling units 2b. Make door-to-door garbage collection facility in all the wards. 2c. Garbage lifting/clearing should be made twice a day. Employ more PKs. 3. Smart Water Management in the city by installi rain water harvesting 4.

Smt: Bhagyalaxmi Samprati Hospitals must be developed and they must be well equipped. 24*7 Ambulance facility must be provided For the purpose of girls safety special force must be provided

Sri: Sanjeev kulkarni - K.E. Board's English Medium School Dharwad 9.Between 100-200 mts police force. 10.Meat market should be out of the city. Now its in middle of city 11.For every school police security. 12.WiFi in full city. 13.Dharwad super market must be improved. 14.Compulsory Adhaar Card number for all transactions. 15.Ring roads, fly overs in every circles. 16.For walking only the footpath must be used. 17.Payable public swimming pool in 1km radius

Sri: Sanjeev kulkarni - K.E. Board's English Medium School Dharwad 1.The whole city should be under CCTV surveillance. 2.Perfect parking place. 3.Tobacco chewing and spitting must be prohibited. 4.For spitting in public place 1day prison or 1000Rs penalty. 5.No more plastic carry bags. 6.Strict traffic rules are there but not followed by anyone some are taking easily. 7.Hubli-Dharwad metro or mono train facility. 8.At least one train for every 30 min.
