Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation, in Karnataka State has been selected by the Ministry of Urban Development as one of the 100 smart cities to participate in the “Smart City” Challenge Stage-2 by the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India.

Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation was constituted in the year 1962 by combining two cities separated by a distance of 20 kilometers. This was a unique experiment in urban development history. The area of this Corporation is 202.3sq.kms, spread over 45 revenue villages. The population of the city as per the 1991 Census was 7 lakhs. The present population is nearly more than 9.43 lakhs. Under the Government of India Act of 1850, the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal council was established on August 15, 1855.

Some of my suggestions are: 1.Advance traffic management with the help of GPS 2.Long term plans of road and drainage construction 3.Long term plans of electricity supply connection 4.Proper tax collection

Hi sir, As development cannot be done only by the government roads or some projects it is the effort of everyone. I like to suggest an idea about the digitization of things, like everything must be connected with internet.Every city looks bad when people get stuck in traffic or get an accident with over speed so i suggest to apply an system which controls the vehicle's speed automatically with the help of sensors.

11. Having efficient waste management system. 12. Improving the transport system. 13. Planned expansion of city of further development. 14. Increase in education and health care facilities. 15. Improvement of lakes in the city.

6. Extending the water projects so that there is enough water available for drinking and industries. 7. Standardisation of roads in the city along with footpaths. 8. Developing the tourist places to promote tourism. 9. Digitization of the government departments. 10. Planting more trees for green city.
