Rourkela City, the steel city of Odisha, located on the banks of river Koyal and Brahmani has been shortlisted as one of the SMART Cities under Government of India’s’ SMART City Mission. Under this Mission Rourkela is required to prepare SMART City Plan and formulate its own unique vision and strategies through active consultation of its citizens and all stakeholders. Rourkela Municipal Corporation requests all Rourkelites to share their ideas, suggestions, vision and innovative solutions to transform Rourkela into SMART City.

Citizens are requested to suggest innovative, sustainable and SMART solutions for the Area Based Strategies: Retrofitting (Planning and improvement of infrastructure in an existing built-up area); Redevelopment (Replacement of existing built-up area and co-creation of new layout with enhanced infrastructure); Greenfield Development (planning and development in new areas) and also viable PAN City Initiative.

Rourkela Municipal Corporation is looking forward for valuable suggestions from all the citizens of Rourkela. Grab this opportunity to be a part of this challenge to transform STEEL CITY into SMART CITY.

Last date to submit your valuable ideas and suggestions is 30th November, 2015.

RMC should prioritize to free ROURKELA from the menace of the stray dogs and cattle which not only endanger lives but also add to the filth on the roads. Sterlisation programs for the stray dogs have failed and it is high time that BMC should think of alternatives....if at all we think of making ROURKELA a Smart city.

Tribals and lower class people earn their livelihoods by gathering waste polythene and metal pieces all day and selĺing it. They are alrady working towards clean india mission if the government gives them the job of cleaning Rourkela then they will also find a job and government's clean india mission might also become a success

All slums should be remove by govt. They have their village but only for the not paying any for rent. They why they create their hut.

वाशी रेल्वेस्टेशनच्या बाजुला समुद्र किनारा असल्याने या ठिकाणी एतिहासिक स्मुर्ती जागविण्यासाठी व बच्चे कंपनीकरीता येथे घोडागाडी चालविता येतील काय?याची चाचपणी करण्यात यावी.

I hail from this city and subsequently I have lived at many other cities too but still Rourkela have it's own lifestyle...It's one of those few cities where you can see co-existence of industries and nature, This city being a part of odisha u might think it would be bit backward but people here are much more advanced and broad minded than many other different cities of India, Rourkela has everything it's already a SMART CITY, the only area where gov can improve this city is better Infrastructure

The condition of the existing Govt Hospital should be upgraded in terms of technology as well as cleanliness. More Govt Hospitals should be set up.
