Rourkela City, the steel city of Odisha, located on the banks of river Koyal and Brahmani has been shortlisted as one of the SMART Cities under Government of India’s’ SMART City Mission. Under this Mission Rourkela is required to prepare SMART City Plan and formulate its own unique vision and strategies through active consultation of its citizens and all stakeholders. Rourkela Municipal Corporation requests all Rourkelites to share their ideas, suggestions, vision and innovative solutions to transform Rourkela into SMART City.

Citizens are requested to suggest innovative, sustainable and SMART solutions for the Area Based Strategies: Retrofitting (Planning and improvement of infrastructure in an existing built-up area); Redevelopment (Replacement of existing built-up area and co-creation of new layout with enhanced infrastructure); Greenfield Development (planning and development in new areas) and also viable PAN City Initiative.

Rourkela Municipal Corporation is looking forward for valuable suggestions from all the citizens of Rourkela. Grab this opportunity to be a part of this challenge to transform STEEL CITY into SMART CITY.

Last date to submit your valuable ideas and suggestions is 30th November, 2015.

Eliminate the monopoly of autodriver's asso by stricter law enforcement, create a free market of third party taxi services. Cattle menace is a strict no for a smart city. DO NOT compromise on greencover for the sake of brainless urbanisation. Like I said earlier, include the mass in urban development. The better the communication b/w Gov officials & the public, the lesser resistance, & development is hassle-free. Making everyone happy in the end! Best wishes :)

Make the city child friendly, which means adequate footpath, safe parks, proper safeguard of school children and their movement, braille footpath for the blind school, so on and so forth.

Encourage to use More public transport to control pollution. All govt hospitals need to be clean and modernize. need to open more Govt Clinics with specific distance gap.

Rain Water Harvesting per sarkar ke sthar se sarthak pahal ho. taki jal sanchay ke sath-sath pan bijli pariyojna ko bhi bal mile.

More Patrolling vans with modern equipment like teasers etc. Animals on street need to be control to avoid accidents and animal rehabs need to be prepare and focus on Animal adoptions. It will lead to a clean and safe environment.

Address basic civic issues first like proper drainage, adequate street lighting in neglected areas (slums & outskirts), create sewerage system where none exists and connect it with the existing.
