Rourkela City, the steel city of Odisha, located on the banks of river Koyal and Brahmani has been shortlisted as one of the SMART Cities under Government of India’s’ SMART City Mission. Under this Mission Rourkela is required to prepare SMART City Plan and formulate its own unique vision and strategies through active consultation of its citizens and all stakeholders. Rourkela Municipal Corporation requests all Rourkelites to share their ideas, suggestions, vision and innovative solutions to transform Rourkela into SMART City.

Citizens are requested to suggest innovative, sustainable and SMART solutions for the Area Based Strategies: Retrofitting (Planning and improvement of infrastructure in an existing built-up area); Redevelopment (Replacement of existing built-up area and co-creation of new layout with enhanced infrastructure); Greenfield Development (planning and development in new areas) and also viable PAN City Initiative.

Rourkela Municipal Corporation is looking forward for valuable suggestions from all the citizens of Rourkela. Grab this opportunity to be a part of this challenge to transform STEEL CITY into SMART CITY.

WE DO NOT NEED GIFT CITY [GUJARAT] AS MODEL- WHICH HAD ADOPTED PNEUMATIC UNDERGROUND WASTE COLLECTION SYSTEM WHICH WILL TRANSPORT OUR TOILET WASTE FROM MULTISTORY BUILDINGS TO A TREATMENT CENTER AT A SPEED OF 110-140 K. M. /Hr ,ALTHOUGH THERE IS NOT A SINGLE TRAIN RUNNING AT THIS SPEED IN INDIA. CONSULTANT SAYS IT IS A MINIMUM REQUIREMENT FOR SMART CITY CONCEPT ACROSS INDIA. UNIVERSITY OF HELSINKI [2012] SAYS IT IS 6 TIMES COSTLIER THAN VEHICLE OPERATED DOOR TO DOOR WASTE COLLECTION

Add Big gardens or parks with easy exercise bars,rotator installationsin,games for children in every colony or society so that the residents can have Healthy lifestyle.

small dustbins(100 ltrs.)keep at distance 50 mtr.,100 mtr. in densly and less densly populated area,every corner of road.get the dustbin clean everyday by corporation staff.this will result swacch smart city

built recycle small scale industries for recycling garbage collected - polythene,glass pieces,metal pieces,plastics,papers,vegetables & food waste for manures.this results garbage collector poor people earning and jobs, replacing the beggars thus swacch smart city will become garbage pollution free.

# traffic control should be their. # smooth road should be their. # at least 60 feet road should be their in main area or where heavy traffic passes. # high tech packing facilities should be their. # clean and green city.
