The Government of lndia has launched an ambitious "Smart Cities Mission" to promote cities that provide core infrastructure and a good quality of life to its citizens, a clean and sustainable environment with the application of 'Smart' Solutions'. The Government of India have identified Warangal as one of the 100 cities to participate for the smart city challenge.

In this context, the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) is in the process of preparing the Smart City Proposal. The GWMC seeks valuable suggestions of the citizens to formulate the vision for the Smart City Warangal.

A strategic vision shapes a preferred future for a city. A successful vision has economic, spatial, social and environmental dimensions that reflect a city’s unique physical and cultural traits; it provides direction for the activities of the Corporation, citizens and stakeholders; and ensures that citizens, city agencies, and stakeholders are working towards those shared sub-goals. The vision statement should inspire our city’s residents and can even become the branding for our smart city.

The Smart City Advisory Forum of Warangal shall evaluate the vision statement and award the best three entries.

Note: Please restrict to a maximum of 50 words.

Kindly, post your views and ideas till 31st October, 2015.

Any city can become smart when it does the following: 1. Clog-free underground drainage 2. All roads in all residential areas including the villages are built as per Indian Road Congress norms so that rain water is well harvested by diverting it to a nearby water body or allow that to peculate 3. No open defecation, urination and smoking at all. 4. GPS based garbage collection and disposal system and generation of energy or usable compost with biodegradable waste. 5. Protected water supply

Please stick to the basics and look into our day to day issues. We expect fast results and output should be visible ASAP. Don't worry about long term and bigger issues. It will resolve automatically if Govt cares for ground level issues. Please control POPULATION of our country as first measure on priority and then look for fulfilling our basic needs like water, power, education, medical and transportation. Thanks. ANIL MALVIYA

My recommendations to make Warangal a Tier-2 SmartCity * Identify 5 prime-focus areas (Industry, Tourism, Infrastructure, Education, eGovernance) * Invite suggestions from field-experts & common-man / masses * Publish ALL suggestions on a website and let people vote for top-10 in each focus area * List final Top-10 suggestions from each of 5 Prime-focus * Form expert-task-force to prepare 2-year execution plan and funds needed * Publish and Execute all 5 focus-area plans in 2-years!

Belgaum needs to be developed into a smart city asap and the things to be considered first are: Power and water should be provided 24/7,drainage system has to be cleaned,Road widening works are underway but the irony of the situation is that the existing roads are horrible and need to be fixed, Please get the street lights fixed, Fine people for not segregating the garabage, establish green zones and replant the trees wherever possible, improved public transport, wifi.
