The Government of lndia has launched an ambitious "Smart Cities Mission" to promote cities that provide core infrastructure and a good quality of life to its citizens, a clean and sustainable environment with the application of 'Smart' Solutions'. The Government of India have identified Warangal as one of the 100 cities to participate for the smart city challenge.

In this context, the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) is in the process of preparing the Smart City Proposal. The GWMC seeks valuable suggestions of the citizens to formulate the vision for the Smart City Warangal.

A strategic vision shapes a preferred future for a city. A successful vision has economic, spatial, social and environmental dimensions that reflect a city’s unique physical and cultural traits; it provides direction for the activities of the Corporation, citizens and stakeholders; and ensures that citizens, city agencies, and stakeholders are working towards those shared sub-goals. The vision statement should inspire our city’s residents and can even become the branding for our smart city.

The Smart City Advisory Forum of Warangal shall evaluate the vision statement and award the best three entries.

Note: Please restrict to a maximum of 50 words.

Kindly, post your views and ideas till 31st October, 2015.

The Government of India's ambitious "Smart Cities Mission' is highly commendable. It may lead India unto becoming a world super power. But in no way rural developments and agriculture sectors should be adversely affected or retarded by taking up the Mission.

The water people receive at home should be drinkable without needing any extra purification process. I would't call a city "smart" if even as basic need as pure water is not served to its citizen.

No Smart City Without Footpaths. Pl make walkable, stumble-free, and encroachment-free footpaths in every smart city for ordinary citizens, particularly for the elderly and children. There cannot be a smart city without footpaths.

• Dustbins should be kept at all public places like Bus stations, Railway stations, Gardens, Theatres etc. • Dustbins should be kept at proper distance on roads. • Proper waste containers should be kept in every area. • Rules should be made and action should be taken if someone breaks the rule. • Daily cleaning of public places is necessary. • They should make public aware of importance of cleanliness and should tell them the after effects of not keeping it clean (like diseases).
