Namami Tate Is a campaign brought to you by the Ministry of Earth Sciences in collaboration with the Government of India. This campaign is part of the Government of India’s 75 week celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mohotsav. Through Namami Tate, we are targeting cleaning of some of the dirtiest beaches of India with the help of the Government as well as fellow citizens. Beaches play a fundamental role in maintaining the health of the oceans and also provide habitat to a number of marine species.

However, last year, a group of researchers from ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE) found that the north-east Arabian Sea, just off Mumbai, contained an estimated 379 MT of marine debris of which plastics contributed to 40.6% of the total by weight. A major portion of this debris washes up on the beaches creating health, environmental, economic as well as social hazards. The fast-paced growth of the tourism sector combined with the lack of awareness on the part of citizens about the damaging impact of pollution is one of the leading causes of the abysmal condition of our beaches. The Namami Tate campaign aims to clean these beaches and protect our precious marine biodiversity.

The Ministry of Earth Sciences invites suggestions from the citizens of India about the innovative ways in which we can conduct this beach cleaning activity. We value your suggestions which would be instrumental in implementing this campaign.

The best entries from the citizens will be identified by the Ministry and will be featured on the MyGov page.

The last date to receive suggestions is 15th August 2022.

India is slowly witnessing a new trend of picking up trash on the wayside . To make people aware of the trend, on the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, a 2 km run named Fit India Plogging Run was launched in the year 2019. The event has witnessed participation by an estimated 36 Lakh people. Clearly, environmental degradation is a big concern. The activity of Plogging is a unique way of combining cleanliness with fitness. And what makes it extra special is that it does not require extra time or effort. After clocking in about 15 hours of Plogging over the last 6 months, I can’t claim to champion the cause, but if the government truly wants to clean the beaches, we should try to make the activity of Plogging kool. Maybe by engaging a few celebrities and inspiring masses to join the movement. I am sure this is the best way. It will not only clean the litter but next time people will think twice before make beaches dirty.

please consider this,The idea of CSIR/ UGC NET and NEET is grabbing the right to educate and employment opportunities to students who are inaccessible to resources. The idea of calculating and discouraging students interest and ability with set of random difficult questions unrelated to the position of MBBS or assistant professorship is encouraged. The NET exams for the position of assistant professorship except lectureship must be done separately or by state. This rule kills the research interest in students who want to do phd with no scope for employment. while we have board exams separately for each subject why would neet be necessary. If neet is for helping students who can't afford.please give the same right to students who can afford to educate in private colleges without neet. BOTH THESE ARE HELPING ONLY BUISNESS MINDED TRAINING CENTERS AND STUDENTS WITH GOOD FACILITIES.THIS RULE IS NOT EQUALLY HELPING EVERYONE.
